  1. Once a week, normally. Rest of the week I eat some sort of home-made lentil concoction. Right now I'm on a big turkey lentil sloppy joe kick.
  2. You should buy me lunch at the Israeli joint that I'm headed to today.
  3. Lydia Loveless "Indestructible Machine"
  4. I recently stocked up on water. Now I have 10 gallons waiting patiently in the crawlspace for the apocalyptic. I plan on adding more plus dried rice and some sort of dried or canned bean.
  5. Oh yeah, I just heard about a county campground called Big Rock in Kane(?) county. I havent been there yet but we're planning on going there this season.
  6. Shabbona is nice, gotta keep the down low on the booze though. I like Apple River Canyon SP a lot. No electricity keeps the RVs away. Middle Fork of the Vermillion River, near Kickapoo, is a nice place too. Normally though, I head to a trailer I keep at a sportsmans club I belong to near Wilmington. Its less than an hour from my house, no yahoos blaring Night Ranger and no silly firewood rules.
  7. Side note: I suprised anybody took me seriously on this topic.
  8. I say, cut down all the dead and affected trees, cut it into firewood and sell it. Lemons into lemonade.
  9. In N. IL the policy is mostly there to drive revenue for the campgrounds. Buying overpriced crappy wood is not normally part of my camping experience.
  10. Clam down. Northern IL has been decimated by the ash borer, the damage has already been done.
  11. I'll bring some to Texas next time I visit.
  12. I consider myself the Johnny Appleseed of the emerald ash borer. Its a much maligned and misunderstood little bugger that has a lot to offer the world. You should try showing some tolerance.
  13. Sometimes but I pay no mind to such foolishness.
  14. Yesterday I traded a 12 pack of Miller Lite (bottles) for a van load of split, seasoned hard wood (plus some birch) to be used by my family for the upcoming camping season. 100 mile round trip but well worth it.
  15. Cooked up some cajun style blackened catfish for Sunday dinner. Served on a bed of brown rice with a white wine/butter/lemon sauce. Sho is good!
