  1. First Wilco song I ever heard...that was my introduction. Probably the most meaningful tune to me. Totally flipped my world around and introduced me to this wonderful band. Hearing that noise and chaos for the first time. Followed my melody and poetry, only to end with more chaos and one of my favorite vocal performances ever. I love that song so much.

  2. I really wish he would do away with this self-serving , inner artist pap, and maybe play something THE FANS WANT TO HEAR.

Seriously, where's my "Ebony and Ivory" (w/ special guest Lauren Hill, um, scratch that, Tom Waits????)

Right. He should do what Dylan does and just play all the hits every show, only thinking about the paying audience there to adore him.

  3. Going to see him both nights in Orlando later this month. He can do the exact same setlist and it will be fine by me!

I would take Sir Paul's show over a Stones show these days, especially with all the cheesy "special guests" (Gwen Stefani, gimme a freaking break). And at about half the price. I love the Stones, but jeez...

I'd like to say the same...but I have yet to see the Stones. They had Tom Waits last night in Oakland do Little Red Rooster! Thats a good guest..but yeah some of the guests are a joke.

  4. Wilco Me is just a genuinely great member of VC. Although I take no offense to being poked at as a semi-newbie, and often laugh at it, I appreciate people like Wilco Me, just in case it gets out of hand and us newbies need a shoulder to cry on. God knows Jules won't be that shoulder... :uhoh

  5. In every newcomers defense it just says "Rank the Wilco ALbums" in the title.  If I joined a board and came to a thread years old and tens of pages long, I might not read the first post.

I know that's less of a funny thing to say.  Sorry to all of you sadistic devils.

    THE WORLD MAKES SENSE NOW

  6. Damn. That would have been amazing. It's experiences like this that ruin you for big stadium shows where you watch the whole thing on a screen.

Gotta brag a little here: I once got to see Prince in a similar situation in 2000 or 2001. I was living in Boston, and they did some kind of radio call-in thing (can't remember the details) to get to see Prince in a tiny club about 30 minutes away--a surprise pop-up show for that night. He had the full band and backup dancers but no other elaborate staging. He was starting a major tour in the next week or so. There couldn't have been more than 300-400 people packed into this sweaty little club. Unforgettable night.

How much lead guitar did Prince show off? I've always wondered if in his early club-rising-to-fame days, he played a lot more wicked lead, until he got into the "entertainment" industry...i'm just curious if when he played that show you went to in a club, he rechanneled his guitar-god side and left his sex-god side at home! I'd love to see that man just shred up close in a venue like that.

  7. Last night the Stones played a secret club show for about 350. Tickets were $20.

  8. This is true...my source (who I reliable and works on the inside) says 4 acts to be on the tour (Dylan, MMJ, Wilco and TBD)...the only date I know of is South Florida and that date is after the end of the stones tour.....tickets going on sale next Sat.

Some festival of some sort is what I am told.

    WOOOOOHOOOOOOO

What you're really trying to do here is use subliminal messaging and tell us that the forth band is actually said to be Drive-By Truckers. Even though you were sworn to secrecy by your reliable source, you feel the VC community is smart enough to decode the backwards message. Thanks suites!

  9. How can Wilco open for Dylan and the Stones at the same time? :yeaahh Presuming the Stones will announce a summer leg of their tour, seeing that absolutely zero cities in the southern U.S. are on the current tour...between the work that goes into Solid Sound and the new record, Wilco probably won't tour until Fall. BUT I will definitely be going to see MMJ and Dylan.
