At the Alejandro Escovedo show on Saturday the couple next to me were raving about Jesse Malin. I've heard of him but am unfamiliar with his work. Turns out he's playing in Nashville the same weekend I'll be there -- tickets were only $15.00 so I grabbed a couple (not much of a risk at that price). If there are any Jesse Malin fans out there, I'd appreciate recommendations on albums of his I should check out. Thanks.

^^^ Agree. Sound + Vision is one of my favorite Bowie songs. There's something about the way Bowie sings the word "vision" that makes me smile every time. It has a harmonic quality to it -- like a vibrating pipe.

I saw the article this morning. I think it was meant as a compliment to Dexter Fowler -- not as flashy: but reliable and steady at a fraction of the price as Cespedes/Springsteen. I never figured Paul Sullivan to be a Wilco fan -- I pictured him more as a Mumford or Billy Joel kind of guy! This will make it harder for me to hate him and his Cub-centric world view..

Saw The Chamber Strings open for Wilco and immediately went out and bought their CD. RIP.

Very surprising and sad. When he was good, Bowie was other-worldly. I saw the excellent Bowie installation at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago last year and gained a whole new level of appreciation and respect for his music and art. Ironically, Greg Kot's favorable review of Black Star was in this morning's Tribune. RIP.
