  1. I'm not sure because my husband ordered it. Not sure if makes a difference, but he ordered within the first 4 hours of the pre-orders being up

Gotcha, well I'm hoping mine is sitting on my front porch when I get home from work in an hour or so. I live in Nashville, so it doesn't have too far to go from Raleigh!

  2. My orange vinyl was waiting on my porch this morning from KingFu along with the shock gum that is very scary to me. Think I'm gonna leave it in the package

Nice! When did you get the order update email from kung fu?

  3. Already done... but thanks!! Edited my previous post to clarify that fact...

Was hoping (figuring actually) that they'd be going that... kind of surprised they haven't...

Just need the newest one for the road trip, if possible...

I just checked and if you log it to the same place where you downloaded the first two, you'll see Someone to Lose is now available for you to DL as well!

  4.

Headed out on the road today to Syracuse, NY & the State Fair there to see Brian Wilson & Band play two sets, one of which is "Pet Sounds" complete... Would LOVE to have this with the two other songs... anyone who has an MP3 file... either please PM me or send to my email (HareDurga@yahoo.com)- sorry I'm just not tech savvy, but am relying on the kindness of others who are... thanks in advance to whoever chooses to good deed do & collect the happy Karma & my undying gratitude!

If you pre-order the album, you'll get 2/3 immediately...

  5. It's funny that Pearl Jam are the top of that list.  I actually wrote their Random Setlist Generator (yes it was called that!) in 2002.  They sent me a database of all their songs which contained certain parameters, album, tempo, odd tuning, Eddie plays guitar, etc... I asked if they wanted any tags like 'opener', 'closer', 'encore', 'played last night', they said no, keep it wide open.  So they would enter the amount of songs, max number of songs of the same tempo in a row, max number of songs from same album in a row, max number of songs Eddie plays guitar on and then a set list comes out.  It was a real fun project I still have the paystub and code (Perl/Tk) somewhere.  For years I had tickets waiting for me for any show I wanted, then Brett stopped doing house sound and the tickets vanished, unfortunately I had dropped my 10 Club membership and I lost all those years of seniority when I rejoined.  I always got a kick out of friends thanking me for the setlist last night, for what it's worth I'm pretty sure they tweeked the setlists after they came out because alot of the setlists I would get were way out there.

    That is awesome!

  6. Based on my limited knowledge, it seems that Jeff wrote a ton of new material, and just hand picked what he thought would work as Tweedy songs, and what would work as Wilco songs. Possible the Wilco songs needed something more, that the rest of the gang came to help out on.

There are a number of bands (and especially pop stars) that record separate tracks and then mix them all together for the end process. It's nothing new. But I do think it takes a little away from the overall coherence of an album. It's also a lot less romantic to think of the album being put together in pieces instead of days of sitting in the studio and working things out as a group.

If you follow Radiohead, you'll know that their latest album was the result of many months holed up in a French studio laying down tracks and experimenting. They even had the artist present creating variations of the album art while they worked. That's a much more collaborative effort.

Radiohead only spent ~2 weeks in France last year. They recorded 80% of AMSP during that period. There's a recent NPR interview where Jonny talks about it. Stanley Donwood always does their artwork in the studio as they record. I don't think RH is too dissimilar from Wilco in the sense that Thom, like Jeff, always brings the core of a song, and the others add to it. What does Jeff think of RH, btw? I know Glenn was on Phil's record and that some members of each band played together in NZ for 7 Worlds Collide.

  7. So I've got a ton of black 180g Wilco wax. All sound great. But can anyone shed any light of the quality of the colored versions they do? They're only 145g. I know typically colored records suffer in sound quality. Thanks!

  8. I was there and that setlist is legit. It started POURING about 20 minutes before they took the stage. They were due on at 6:15 but started late due to having to move pedal boards around because of the rain. I'm thinking SW was going to be played straight through but they tweaked it once their time slot was reduced by mother nature. Really wanted to hear Magnetized and Satellite live...I wound up backstage through a friend I knew for the last 6 songs. Too cool. Cali Stars was just the regular version.

  9. The daily lineup is scheduled to be announced this Tuesday, July 14.

Since this is a daytime fest, I wonder if there will be aftershows around town like at Jazzfest, Newport, Outside Lands, etc. That would be cool for sure. Of course, it's only about 30 minutes from Nashville, so that would be another option for the indefatigable festivalgoer.

Ryman Friday night would be terrific. Going to go to this either way though. Day passes are up and they're $110 with fees.
