Went to the Ryan Adams show... and was underwhelmed. Cold Roses, Goodnight Rose were highlights in the first set and I thought the VERY SHORT second set was off to a great start... I See Monsters was great and I loved The Rescue Blues... but then some people requested some songs and Ryan got pissed. He tore up What Sin and then mumbled some things and left.
I am not splitting the atom here, but damn the guy is talented... great guitar work and incredible songs... but the voice mix was awful (not the Alabama Theater's fault) and he fumbles all around before the next song and who cares if someone requests Let It Ride. Damn Ryan... $40 bucks for your show... grow the hell up. I would think of it as an honor that so many people want to hear a track off a certain record. It's not like someone requested Summer of '69 or Cuts Like A Knife.
I guess I am spoiled by the unreal performances Wilco has put on and their professionalism. I couldn't imagine Ryan being in Jeff's shoes at a solo show... and I guess there is a reason why he'll never reach that status.
Long live Wilco... down with Ryan.
Go make another record and take someone else's money and time... I am just going to steal your music online now and never see you play live again.

pic #4 is an alltime fav of mine. great job.
-
The second encore takes me back to the 2001-2002 shows... waiting for Monday... and especially Hoodoo Voodoo to pop back in there.
-
I run 3-5 miles a day, but would never dream of running a marathon.
Best of luck. I hope you get the 3:10.
i do not even like to drive 26 miles. Good Luck, Bourbon Breath! Thanks!
My first trip to Chicago... great city! The Field and Shedd were amazing. Hoping the Cubs win so i can make a trip to Wrigleyville tomorrow afternoon! Staying at the Burnham... cool place.
-
I was wondering how many VCers are running in the marathon tomorrow. it's going to be a smoker with the high temps... good thing i am from alabama and used to the heat.
i am in corral a shooting for a 3:10 which would qualify me for boston.
good luck to anyone running.

loved the how to fight loneliness --> laminated cat performances.
i would be okay with ALTWYS coming back... opening up an encore?
-
how did people react when they played BFOL again?
i hate i am going to miss a show on this leg... the set lists have been great. i like the fact that when they are switching the songs around that aren't just recycling war on war, the late greats, and muzzle... though i would love to see ALTWYS pop up to start up an encore or even open a show soon.
-
Now if they would add Hotel Arizona to the set list all my requests to start playing regularly would be fulfilled... Pot Kettle Black (check), Too Far Apart (check)...
-
Worst: Memphis in May Festival back in '02 or '03 (I think)
Best: Ryman and Alabama Theater (since i only had a 15 min back home)
-
great choice... i'll see it the a.m.
i thought they would've played 'you are my face'.
-
i am really hoping that play those other new songs 'passenger side' and 'casino queen' again simetime soon. that record is going to rock! i hear they are working on a song titled 'box full of letters', should be cool.
Remember Jeff played another newbie 'Blue Eyed Soul' on a couple of solo dates last year.
-
Cold Roses has got to be my favorite followed by Heartbreaker then probably a tie between JCN and ET for third place.
Don't waste your time and money on Rock n Roll and 29... both are crap in my opinion.
-
the copy i have is poor... lots of talking... cool early version of kamera and great to hear blood of the lamb live since we'll more than likely never hear it played live again.
-
happy birthday to jeff and my 3 year old son, stephen.
-
is easily forgotten about because of the masterpieces that followed.

What a setlist for WUTS (Wilco Under The Stars):
Side With The Seeds
You Are My Face
IATTBYH
Kamera
Handshake Drugs
A Shot in the Arm
Pot Kettle Black
Impossible Germany
Sky Blue Sky
Too Far Apart
Via Chicago
War on War
Jesus, etc.
Walken
I'm The Man Who Loves You
I'm Always in Love
-----------------------------
Red-Eyed and Blue>
I Got You (At The End of the Century)
Monday
Poor Places>
Spiders (Kidsmoke)
------------------------------
Hate It Here
The Late Greats
Heavy Metal Drummer
Holy Jesus... TOO FAR APART! I think a majority of the board has been calling for that pretty regulary for about a year now... they like us, they really like us!!!
Good to see the BT encore make a return... giving Hummingbird the night off = amazing... a wonder if they now will do the same by not playing Shot, Break, Jesus, Handshake, or ITMWLY maybe one night during the tour... or even Walken... that track has been played at almost every show over the past 2+ years now.
Now if they will just put Hotel Arizona in there with in Too Far Apart...
-
barnyard pimp...
nah... how about Side With The Seeds
-
catchy tune... but i agree with others... i usually skip straight to She's A Jar
-
Overrated: Lonely 1, Dash 7, and What Light
Underrated: Too Far Apart, Someday Some Morning Sometime, Hell Is Chrome
-
Nashville show in Sept...
Play chicago the Sunday night of the Chicago marathon...
and then to the studio to finish up the songs remaining from the SBS sessions for a Spring release...
-
won a grammy even though it contained over 10 minutes of white noise...
proved jeff tweedy can shred a guitar (altwys)...
has the best album cover of all wilco releases...
all the songs are better played in concert...
-
turned me on to the band and gave me my fourth favorite wilco song and a concert standard... 'a shot in the arm'
-
i bet jeff's having a right old laugh reading these threads
i truly believe that he could care less how we feel about this. good for jeff and the boys getting a little extra jingle in their pockets... and getting a combined 90 seconds mainstream play of 2 album tracks and 1 bonus track.
-
that was fun... and difficult.
can't wait to see the results. thanks for all the hard work.
