Not unless the topic was "ridicule anyone who acts as if climate change is no big deal -- except for Al Gore."
-
Al Gore makes millions of dollars jetting around the world (on CO2-spewing aircraft) preaching about climate change while he racks up $2600/month energy bills at his home. I'd call that equally brazen.

It may not be a joke, but I doubt it's true. Not that I watch Fox News.

The U.S. has pledged support for Ukraine and has demanded that Russia not interfere. With Russian boots on the ground and little likelihood that we will actually do anything about it, Putin scores a post-Syria victory -- again making the United States (and NATO) look like nothing but a lot of hot air and causing our allies to question our resolve and commitment.

I think I'll ignore all parts of all of your posts until you learn to be a little more polite.

My statement was based upon personal experience, my friends' experiences and conversations with a few cops over the years. It is perfectly legal to carry/conceal a loaded firearm in your vehicle in Texas, even if you don't possess a concealed handgun license. Those with licenses have gone through background checks, been fingerprinted and generally break the law at a significantly lower rate than the general population. The stats are out there. A traffic stop only takes 4 or 5 minutes and the officer will typically allow the firearm to remain in the vehicle during the stop, although some pr

You just can't live in Texas unless you got a lotta soul

Made it to my friend's ranch in south Texas. Beer, hunting and beautiful sunsets and sunrises await. http://imgur.com/yZSJ7rG -
Cops in Texas breathe a sigh of relief when their terminal tells them that the driver has a concealed handgun license. They know that he/she isn't a criminal, is trained in gun safety and spent the time and money to jump through the licensing hoops. Traffic stops are very nonchalant because they know that the chances of trouble are even less than usual.

She told the cop that she's afraid of shooting herself in the foot. That's throwing herself under the bus, if anything.
-
She didn't throw anybody under the bus. The cop tried to convince her that he knew that her husband had a gun, so she tried to help them find it. Several of my friends' wives won't go near a gun (even though there are safes full of them in their bedrooms) but that doesn't mean my friends are bad gun owners, it just means that their wives don't want anything to do with guns. It's a personal choice that they are free to make. In every case that I can think of, they allow their preteen sons and daughters to shoot guns with their fathers. I figured you'd misread it; no big deal. But I most c

There have been countless times that the Left has brought a "horrible outrage" against their beliefs. These stories are generally one sided and later to be be proven wrong or factually incorrect. I merely indicated that it is an example of how government firearm databases can be misused. They are far from harmless. Keeping a handgun in your front pocket, glove box or console are perfectly legal ways for permit holders to conceal their handguns. He was traveling in a state which does not recognize permits from other states and rarely issues permits of its own. Rules vary from state to

Had there been a "perfectly good reason for pulling him over" -- speeding, faulty brake light, traffic infraction -- he would have been issued a citation. But the only thing he was issued was an apology by the cop's superior and an internal affairs officer.

I don't see how merely referring to states as "hostile" to concealed carry would lead you to say that the article "read like Maryland police officers are pulling over every single person with FLA license plate and throwing them in jail cause they might have a gun" or "Maryland is out to get all gun owners." Guess who can get a Maryland concealed carry license with ease? Cops and former cops. "Regular" people are required to show police reports of documented threats, assaults or robberies to even be considered for a permit. There are only 14,000 people with permits among 6 million residents.
-
I can't understand how you arrived at that after reading the story. Ditto.
-
I don't think you'll find many people who think it's acceptable to pull people over "for no reason whatsoever." Fourth Amendment and all.
-
That's an different discussion entirely, but it would be a fitting comparison if the cops pulled over African Americans or stopped and frisked people after they'd already ascertained their identities and been informed that the subjects had no criminal histories. The Maryland cops in the story I linked to already knew (via government databases) who the man they were following was and that he had a clean record.
-
Agreed. It's like an out of state cop pulling over a car with Colorado plates because weed is legal in their home state. (But I won't be surprised if it happens.)
-
She probably never heard her husband's conversation with the cop. Officers are trained to separate suspects before questioning them, in order to see if their stories match or differ.
-
Surely you know that that isn't even close to the truth. Here's another example of what the government does with its lists of legal gun owners: A man with a concealed carry permit is pulled over, searched and harassed in Maryland just because he owns a handgun ... that he left back in Florida.

And just how many of those are committed by members of the dreaded NRA?
