last night was fun. blinding sheets of rain....sirens...going from 71 to 30 in 10 minutes...good times.

props to the name of this thread. made me laugh very much so.

i've been following the coverage of this election for a while....the way it's being covered (especially on the dems) is pissing me off, but i get the feeling that's because the media just sucks.

I took my daughter (then 9) to see Wilco at Cains the last time they played there. We had seen the band at an outdoor venue in Columbia, MO the night before. Those two shows were her first. She still gets all glowy talking about them.

 

We were in the front row both nights, and both nights were hot and humid. Cains the second night was just too much for the little gal, and we spent the last third of the show sitting on the curb in the cool Tulsa night. On the other hand kidsmoke's daughter, also 9, was happy as a clam the entire show.

 

Just remember that Cains is a GA venue, and that it is a bar. It is a sold out show. Much of it depends on where you stand as well. If you don't mind hanging at the periphery, it might make it easier on the shorties. I probably wouldn't take my daughter to another such venue until she is at least as tall as some of the adults.

my dad's been taking me to shows since i was a bebe. that's how i came to meet a lot of these crazy people.

secondary modern - vanilla to an englishman...i don't even know where to get this record, but it's really quite good.

ditto to the byrds, neko, andrew bird and the old 97's.

i'm not even gonna mention the lastest two cow garage record, for fear of sounding like a broken record.

and has no one mentioned ryan adams? at least check out 'heartbreaker' if you don't feel like swimming around in his catalog.

You know it is a real encore when the band is so sloppy and crazy they play some shit they have never really played before.

like at that robbie fulks show....when they improvised a song to tell us it was time to go home. good times. i'm just happy brother ray got to see a real encore before they become completely extinct.

i just remembered something...we were talking about the sentient action figure stories being lost...nat said something a while back about having compiled them all into one document on her computer.

perhaps someday, for future generations, they will resurface.
