  1. i've just bought this dvd set, the region 1 thinpack version. i know that when it was first issued in the larger box set, MGM, for some reason, edited the episode called Threads down drastically from the broadcast version. i think i've got the full-length version ok, but does anyone here have the edited version, or even the reissue? if so, how long is this episode on yours? i'd just like to compare. gracias amigos
  2. any chance you have a dvd recorder as well as the sky+ ? i suppose i should have said i use a public library pc for net access, so i've no chance of downloading, or even just watching streams...
  3. i usually don't bother watching festivals shown on tv as they only show a song or two by each artist, and i can't be bothered sitting there for hours just for that. when i heard that the full sets by Stooges and John Fogerty were shown, i regretted not watching (or having an HDD recorder). is there any kind soul out there who has both complete sets without edits, and whatever Bloc Party stuff was shown? a very frustrated (not in that way!) fan would love to get them, preferably from the tv broadcast, rather than a glitchy netcast....
  4. i've seen this Wilco Documentary DVD bootleg on ebay. #330123269562 let's see if we can get it taken down. the more, the merrier... emails away!
  5. Thought I should post this, only spotted it last night. Wilco are playing a session on Dermot O' Leary show, BBC Radio 2, 4.30pm - 6.30pm Today.
  6. i'm a bit confused about the various versions of the new album. i thought i read here about a month or so ago that there was to be:- normal cd cd/dvd cd + 2 trk cd only available to certain retailers in the US cd + another 2 trk cd only available to certain retailers in the US i've only seen one cd + 2trk cd for sale on Ebay. can anyone confirm if there is a 2nd version, or have i got it wrong? gracias
  7. Hi dere I got this show recently:- FLAMING LIPS - Tramps, NYC 8.18.99 1 talking towards the left 2 when you fall in love 3 anticipatory cheering 4 race for the prize 5 35,000 feet of despair 6 ? 7 feeling yourself disintegrate 8 she don't use jelly 9 slow nerve action 10 somewhere over the rainbow 11 what a wonderful world 12 when you smile 13 buggin As you can see, I don't know the title of track 6. can anyone help? Grazi amigos
  8. Tupelo if you need these 2 ep's, i can copy them from the ltd. 2cd versions of YHF & AGIB, should be better than mp3's too. PM me if you want them.
  9. Neil the songwriter, Neil the singer, Neil the Guitar god and also, as you point out, Neil the prophet.
  10. i think he meant that Henley was trying to, you know, with Smog. which is why he's gone incognito as Bill Callahan...oops.
  11. Thank you Mr Analog, a most comprehensive reply!
  12. i'm in the UK, and over here, EMI & BMG music discs have a copy protection system on them called Copy Control which is clearly displayed on the back of the jewel box. i thought this was just to prevent uploading music to P2P's, but apparently not, since i've just bought one, and i can't even digitally copy this to my Minidisc walkman, which has really pissed me off. (you can still make analogue copies; great fun fiddling around with record levels and having to put in track marks manually.) these discs aren't cd's as they will not play in some types of cd player, and Phillips have made it
  13. these mini-album/ep type things annoy me. they're usually just a mixture of leftovers & stuff not good enough to go on an album, and they're usually overpriced too. apart from that, i just love them.
  14. thank you, Basil. may the Tweedstar guide you in your travels.
  15. ...the compliments just flow.
  16. i've got an AD live show and 1 by L & J, where they play a few covers i can't identify, so i was wondering if anyone else here would know what these songs are? the gigs in question are:- THE AUTUMN DEFENSE - 11.24.04 - Schubas Tavern song needed is track 12, a Left Banke cover, but which one? LAURIE & JOHN - 11.24.04 - Schubas Tavern song needed is track 13, the word espionage appears early in the song, if that helps to jog anyone's memory. any info would be most gratefully received. grazi, amigos
  17. Well said. What about Sweet Home Alabama then?
  18. what about bowie's "laughing gnome"?
  19. which 2 songs aren't going to be on the dvd? and where did you get a tracklisting for that little disc ? maybe my recording it wasn't a waste of time after all...
  20. on Channel 4, Saturday/early hours of Sunday, 1.35am. the site just says " 4music: Jeff Tweedy: Live in Concert. On tour with ex-Wilco front man Jeff Tweedy. " as for the ex-Wilco bit , do they know something we don't?
  21. he'd have to go some to beat LLoyd Maines on UT's No Sense In Loving...and that was live.
  22. good to hear what all your experiences with CDB were. looks like it was the artists fault. i'm pissed off at him now. CDB's service was fast and with the funny emails and the fact that the artist gets well paid etc, i thought "this is a good site" until the cdr arrived. still, they get marks deducted for not even replying to me to say they just sell what the artist sends them, and i still think they should display on the site if an item is just a cdr. thanks for all the feedback.
  23. i recently bought a cd from CdBaby (Chick Graning's MT), only to find....that it was a cdr. for $20 including shipping. there isn't anything wrong with someone selling cdr's, especially when the artist is getting paid. but anyone doing so SHOULD SAY THAT THEY ARE SELLING CDR'S, rather than the real thing (factory-made cd's). (especially since the news story last year about some boffins researching cdr's and saying that they are likely to start to degrade after about 5 years.) i ordered it, expecting a proper cd. wish i'd known, i would have kept trying to get the original german-issue cd.
  24. i've seen it, and i definitely recommend it. it does show the reality of a band on a small label. and that scene, after the last gig, in the band's dressing room is unforgettable. i'm not sure about the comment above about them having had a moderate level of success applies here. i got the impression they might still be together if they could make a living out of it. it would have been easier to deal with all the annoying stuff if that were the case. RIP Luna.
  25. I mean Uptighty, of course, not the mighty Jif Twoody and his Weclo! Anyway, I've got a 7" by Uptighty, and I think someone on VC mentioned they put out a cd, too. Can someone give me any details, cd title, label it came out on, etc. Or any info about them at all would be helpful. And you all love being helpful, don't you?
