  1. I've said it before... Phoexix Custom Electronics makes a pedal called the ranger.. It makes a tele go "mmmmm good" You can't go wrong , plus they are cheap compared to similiar products by other manufacturers!!!! my 2.4 cents...
  2. I've built a lot of stompboxes if you ever need a kit of parts I could put one together for you... with directions and the whole bit.
  3. Good point they may have the little connector doo-hickey (that's a technical term )
  4. It would seem out of character but hey who knows... he does play a cheap studio les paul so maybe, nothing surprises me!
  5. You will love love love it when you make the switch. I wouldn't expect much for the speaker install. You can probably do it yourself. I'd help ya!
  6. Great question... I'm not sure.. NPR just did an expose on the subject. A couple of points stuck out. Baby boomers trying to relive their youth. They are now retiring, or have extra money to plop down on these things. Another is the poor performance of the stock market. When i quit my "real" job I liquidated my small 401k and bought a few guitars that have outpaced the dow... It's an investment you can play, which I think is kind of cool! It does seem completely outragous though and it looks like there is no end in site!!!
  7. get ready to salivate.. if money were no option i'd have this sheraton.. i've played a couple and they make me weeeeeepppppp....cry cry cry
  8. I may completely be wrong (disclaimer) but I tivo'd (in HD) and wen't back and looked and the wear doesn't look right on the guitar, no matter how good someone is you can't perfectly re-create 40 plus years of abuse. The gold double bound telecaster he plays is also a clone.... I love em I have a couple myself, I've got a les paul clone that is more accurate than the 59 re-issues that gibson makes (though they have gotten better and more accurate) it's cheaper too... boy.. my gas is acting up..i'll shut it now :}.... But that's my reasoning.. There's a couple guys in chicago that were/ar
  9. The beauty of the vox is it is so responsive to your right hand (or left hand if you left handed :} ). By simply playing harder you get more response out of the amp. I can't say enough about a treble booster either. I bought mine from www.phoenixcustomelectronics.com ( half the price of the exact pedal by some of the other manufacturers ) and guaranteed for life. What I love about this pedal is that it can be used as boost and an overdrive. So many people have also forgot the lost art of using the volume knob on your guitar to turn down too... don't forget this is your built in boost peda
  10. I'd put money on it that the strat on Conan was a fake, or a relic. If you've been around enough old guitars and then see some of the fakes they are really close but not close enough... Check out Greenwich Village Custom guitars or Bill Nash Guitars to see what I mean.... My guess on JT's guitars are they are worth a lot more than he's got into them. He probably bought them when they were not as outragous as they are now... I bought a 61 es 330 four years ago for 2k a good one goes for 6k now.. it's sick.. check out 50's les paul jr's... fast approaching the 15k mark.. two years ag
  11. can't go wrong with the vox! The extra money for the blue speakers is worth it. Also consider an ac-15. Used under a grand, master volume and easier on the back! i've always played out with a vox!
  12. Those Marshall mics are pretty darn good for the money.. Spend a few more bucks and you'll be much happier...
  13. Hagstrom's are going to be of varying quality.. but there are definatley some cool ones out there. Sheraton's are good if there the USA's. I've seen some of the reissue's go on ebay for a very reasonable price. The koreans have cheap electronics and not very good tonewoods. It's a you pay for what you get scenario... Rickenbacker's are such a bargain! Where else can you get a quality amreican made guitar for such a decent price. They have virtually been making the same guitar for 40 plus years.. The big hint... Vintage guild electrics ( some of the solidbody's can be had for a so
  14. www.phoenixcustomelectronics.com see " The Ranger" The best overdrive for the bucks.. I bought two! One for overdrive,, two for more! YOWZA!
  15. For those keeping score it's Pelham Blue. Chao,
  16. 330's and casino's are completely hollow - no center block ala' 335's.
  17. I own the silvertone and maganatone. Magnatone's are known for there vibrato and concert hall reverb. The good ones are starting to get pricey....
  18. It's habit forming. Poor mans twelve string...
