  1. Can I have your autograph?

he said to the fat blonde actress

You know, I've seen every movie you've been in

from "Pass of Pain" to "Duels of Glory"

And when you kissed Robert Mitchum

Gee, but I thought you'd never catch him

You're over the hill right now, and you're looking for love

You're over the hill right now, and you're looking for love

I'll come running to you, honey, when you want me

I'll come running to you, honey, when you want me

    Can I have your autograph?

he said to the fat blonde actress

You know, I know everything you've done

    Anyway, I hate divorces

To the left is a marble shower

It was fun even for an hour, but

You're over the hill right now, and you're looking for love

  2. Hey folks,

    I'm looking to buy a fairly decent keyboard/synth but I'm on a budget - $2000 Australian (roughly $1500 US). I'm looking for:

    - Authentic acoustic piano sounds

    - Weighted keys

    - believable Hammond type/B3 sounds

Does such a thing exist for this money? When it comes down to it, the acoustic piano sounds would take precedence but it'd be great to have the organ sounds in there as a bonus.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Fritz

  3. Well, you're my friend

    And can you see

Many times we've been out drinking

Many times we've shared our thoughts

But did you ever, ever notice, the kind of thoughts I got

Well you know I have a love, a love for everyone I know

And you know I have a drive, to live I won't let go

But can you see this opposition, comes rising up sometimes

That dreadfull imposition, comes blacking in my mind

And then I see a darkness

And then I see a darkness

And then I see a darkness

And then I see a darkness

Did you know how much I love you

Is there hope that somehow you

Can save me from this darkness

Well I hope that someday buddy

We'll have peace in our lives

    Together or apart

    Alone or with our wives

And we can stop our whoring

    And pull the smiles inside

    And light it up forever

    And never go to sleep

    My best unbeaten brother

    This isn't all I see

    I know, I see a darkness

    I know, I see a darkness

    I know, I see a darkness

    I know, I see a darkness

Did you know how much I love you

Is there hope that somehow you

Can save me from this darkness

  4. If today was not an endless highway,

If tonight was not a crooked trail,

If tomorrow wasn't such a long time,

Then lonesome would mean nothing to you at all.

Yes, and only if my own true love was waitin',

Yes, and if I could hear her heart a-softly poundin',

Only if she was lyin' by me,

Then I'd lie in my bed once again.

I can't see my reflection in the waters,

I can't speak the sounds that show no pain,

I can't hear the echo of my footsteps,

Or can't remember the sound of my own name.

Yes, and only if my own true love was waitin',

Yes, and if I could hear her heart a-softly poundin',

Only if she was lyin' by me,

Then I'd lie in my bed once again.

There's beauty in the silver, singin' river,

There's beauty in the sunrise in the sky,

But none of these and nothing else can touch the beauty

That I remember in my true love's eyes.

Yes, and only if my own true love was waitin',

Yes, and if I could hear her heart a-softly poundin',

Only if she was lyin' by me,

Then I'd lie in my bed once again.

    The air is getting hotter

There's a rumbling in the skies

I've been wading through the high muddy water

With the heat rising in my eyes

Every day your memory grows dimmer

It doesn't haunt me like it did before

I've been walking through the middle of nowhere

Trying to get to heaven before they close the door

    When I was in Missouri

They would not let me be

I had to leave there in a hurry

I only saw what they let me see

You broke a heart that loved you

Now you can seal up the book and not write anymore

I've been walking that lonesome valley

Trying to get to heaven before they close the door

    People on the platforms

    Waiting for the trains

I can hear their hearts a-beatin'

    Like pendulums swinging on chains

When you think that you lost everything

You find out you can always lose a little more

I'm just going down the road feeling bad

Trying to get to heaven before they close the door

    I'm going down the river

    Down to New Orleans

They tell me everything is gonna be all right

But I don't know what "all right" even means

I was riding in a buggy with Miss Mary-Jane

Miss Mary-Jane got a house in Baltimore

I been all around the world, boys

Now I'm trying to get to heaven before they close the door

Gonna sleep down in the parlor

    And relive my dreams

I'll close my eyes and I wonder

If everything is as hollow as it seems

Some trains don't pull no gamblers

No midnight ramblers, like they did before

I been to Sugar Town, I shook the sugar down

Now I'm trying to get to heaven before they close the door

  5. My mama was the cold North wind,

My daddy was the son, of a railroad man from west of hell,

Where the trains don’t even run……

Never heard the whistle of a southbound freight,

Or the singing of it’s driving wheel,

No I, never did no wanderin’

    Never did no wanderin’

Never did no wanderin’ after all

They say they highways just one big road,

And it goes from here to there,

And they say you carry a heavy load,

When you’re rolling down the line somewhere…..

Never seen the dance of the telephone poles,

    As they go whizzin’ by,

No I, never did not wanderin’

    Never did no wanderin’

Never did no wanderin’ after all

    Never did no wanderin’…..high!

    Never did no wanderin’…..low!

Now a sailor’s life is a life for him,

But it never was for me,

And I never soared where they hawk may soar,

Or see what the hawk might see,

Never hiked to heaven on a mountain trail,

    Never rode on a river’s rage….

No I, never did not wanderin’

    Never did no wanderin’

Never did no wanderin’ after all

    Never did no wanderin’

    Never did no wanderin’

Never did no wanderin’ after all

    Never did no wanderin’…after……all

  6. Candy says I've come to hate my body

and all that it requires in this world

Candy says I'd like to know completely

what others so discreetly talk about

I'm gonna watch the blue birds fly over my shoulder

I'm gonna watch them pass me by

    Maybe when I'm older

What do you think I'd see

If I could walk away from me

Candy says I hate the quiet places

that cause the smallest taste of what will be

Candy says I hate the big decisions

that cause endless revisions in my mind

I'm gonna watch the blue birds fly over my shoulder

I'm gonna watch them pass me by

    Maybe when I'm older

What do you think I'd see

If I could walk away from me

  7. He sits in your room, his tomb, with a fist full of tacks

    Preoccupied with his vengeance

Cursing the dead that can't answer him back

I'm sure that he has no intentions

Of looking your way, unless it's to say

That he needs you to test his inventions.

Can you please crawl out your window?

Use your arms and legs it won't ruin you

How can you say he will haunt you?

You can go back to him any time you want to.

He looks so truthful, is this how he feels

Trying to peel the moon and expose it

With his businesslike anger and his bloodhounds that kneel

If he needs a third eye he just grows it

He just needs you to talk or to hand him his chalk

Or pick it up after he throws it.

Can you please crawl out your window?

Use your arms and legs it won't ruin you

How can you say he will haunt you?

You can go back to him any time you want to.

Why does he look so righteous while your face is so changed

Are you frightened of the box you keep him in

While his genocide fools and his friends rearrange

Their religion of the little ten women

That backs up their views but your face is so bruised

Come on out the dark is beginning.

Can you please crawl out your window?

Use your arms and legs it won't ruin you

How can you say he will haunt you?

You can go back to him any time you want to.

  8. nice, fritzy :wub

    Timbits,

I was inspired by two things:

    1. Your avatar

    2. I've been cleaning house all day listening to 'Thin Wild Mercury Music'. I sometimes wonder if this may be the best Dylan boot I own.

  9. Ain't it just like the night to play tricks when you're tryin' to be so quiet?

We sit here stranded, though we're all doin' our best to deny it

And Louise holds a handful of rain, temptin' you to defy it

Lights flicker from the opposite loft

In this room the heat pipes just cough

The country music station plays soft

But there's nothing, really nothing to turn off

Just Louise and her lover so entwined

And these visions of Johanna that conquer my mind

In the empty lot where the ladies play blindman's bluff with the key chain

And the all-night girls they whisper of escapades out on the "D" train

We can hear the night watchman click his flashlight

Ask himself if it's him or them that's really insane

Louise, she's all right, she's just near

She's delicate and seems like the mirror

But she just makes it all too concise and too clear

    That Johanna's not here

The ghost of 'lectricity howls in the bones of her face

Where these visions of Johanna have now taken my place

Now, little boy lost, he takes himself so seriously

He brags of his misery, he likes to live dangerously

And when bringing her name up

He speaks of a farewell kiss to me

He's sure got a lotta gall to be so useless and all

Muttering small talk at the wall while I'm in the hall

    How can I explain?

Oh, it's so hard to get on

And these visions of Johanna, they kept me up past the dawn

Inside the museums, Infinity goes up on trial

Voices echo this is what salvation must be like after a while

But Mona Lisa musta had the highway blues

You can tell by the way she smiles

    See the primitive wallflower freeze

When the jelly-faced women all sneeze

Hear the one with the mustache say, "Jeeze

    I can't find my knees"

Oh, jewels and binoculars hang from the head of the mule

But these visions of Johanna, they make it all seem so cruel

The peddler now speaks to the countess who's pretending to care for him

Sayin', "Name me someone that's not a parasite and I'll go out and say a prayer for him"

    But like Louise always says

"Ya can't look at much, can ya man?"

As she, herself, prepares for him

And Madonna, she still has not showed

We see this empty cage now corrode

Where her cape of the stage once had flowed

The fiddler, he now steps to the road

He writes ev'rything's been returned which was owed

On the back of the fish truck that loads

    While my conscience explodes

The harmonicas play the skeleton keys and the rain

And these visions of Johanna are now all that remain

  10. Anybody have the tab for this song?

Pretty sure it's just in D (maybe a capo in there somewhere)

    D A

Dear Employer, I'd like to tell you

    E G

it's been wonderful for all these years

    D A

but now you know, I've got a new shoe

    E G

and I'll be wearin' it so far from here

    and so on...

    until

    D A C G

    during the

    That's the reason that I quit....part

That's pretty much how I play it. Open to correction, though.

    Fritz

EDIT: this post isn't letting me place the chords above the words where I want them but if you look at it I think you'll get the idea.

  11. Here is the end piano, with Leroy doing some organ throughout the song along with the chords...

    (all single notes except *)

    F#  G  F#  F#  D

    D  E  D    F#  G  F#  F#  C#*  C#* (can be C# and F# together)

    F#  F#  G  F#    F#  F#  E  D

    E  F#    F#  E  D  E

    D  Bb  Bb  A  F#

(I tried to space them, but watch the DVD anyway to see how to play it)

    A couple of things:

    1. Hey, good work Adam on the piano parts. I'm gonna try it out.

    2. That D#dim7 chord is so important in the line "but I'm too scared to..." Too many chord sites just have it as a D7 but if you play a D7 you just know it's not right.
