  1. Pooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooor Aggggggggggggggggggggggggie!

    Goodbye.

Loved the result. Hate the fact that UT and TAM are not going to play every year. One of the few non-Michigan football games that I look forward to every year as it didn't matter what the records were, you were going to see an exciting, hard-hitting football game.

    GO BLUE!!!! BEAT THE BUCKEYES!!!!

  2. Just read this quote from Keith.....

If they toured with this in mind it might be pretty cool.

The question on everyone’s mind, of course, is whether or not the band will tour to celebrate reaching the half-century mark, and Richards sounds as eager as ever to hit the road and crank up the amps. He’s organizing jam sessions with bandmates Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts in London next month, and when asked if his longtime foil Mick Jagger was invited, he responded, “Of course. I mean, everybody’s welcome. I was going to ask Bill Wyman to come by too. And Mick Taylor. The whole lot. They’re all Stones, you know? Why not?”

After reading Life, I'm not surprised in the least that this is Keef's attitude. I truly think he truly appreciates his friends and bandmates, no matter what.

  3. Why do I have a feeling that the MNC game is going to be a rematch between LSU and Bama? Stanford's loss to the Ducks eliminates them, and I just can't see Okie State winning Bedlam. I'm just glad the Big Ten doesn't have any team good enough to be caught in this mess because they would get killed - they may only get one team in the BCS as it is looking like a Wisky/Sparty championship game, and who really thinks Sparty can pull off another upset, especially on a neutral field?

GO BLUE!!!! Beat the Huskers!!!! (an awesome game that I will be at this Saturday, should be fun for the first conference game against the Huskers in the Big House).

  4. All of this is going to make one hell of a ESPN 30 for 30-ish documentary one day: http://www.nytimes.c...tml?ref=sports.

You are a Mountaineer fan, right? You might be interested in "3 and Out", the book that just came out about RichRod's 3 years at U of M. I always thought he never got the full support of the powers that be at U of M, and after finishing the book, I'm kind of embarrassed at just how bad things were for him. I will be the first to admit that RichRod shot himself in the foot plenty of times (poor PR skills, total abdication of the defensive side of the ball, unable to control his temper/emotions, etc.) but on the other hand, when St. Lloyd tells his players that he will sign their transfer requests before Rich even hit town, the utter disrespect Lloyd's players showed to the '08-'10 teams, and on and on, RichRod never had a chance. It's an excellent book for any fan of college football, not just the Wolverines. (And I have to admit, reading about some of those losses was not very fun for this particular alum).

  5. I find myself in the awkward position of rooting for the Yankees tonight.

I don't want to see the Rangers face Detroit. It is a horrible matchup for the boys from Arlington.

But it's the one you are going to get! GO TIGERS!!!!!

  6. 58-0, the Jug stays in Ann Arbor. The 2011 Golden Gophers just might be the worst Big 10 team of all time. And remember, this is coming from someone who has seen just about every Michigan home game during the RichRod era, so I know what a bad football team looks like.

    GO BLUE!!! Beat Northwestern!!!

  7. I'm certain that some folks around here are familiar with the Fillmore in Detroit. Looking at the seating chart on its website it appears that the main floor is GA and the mezzanine and balcony has seats. Are the seats reserved for shows such as Wilco's show on 12/10? And if this question has been asked and answered in the previous 15 pages or elsewhere in the vast VC realm, I apologize for being lazy and not searching for the relevant answers to my query.

  8. I was in Ann Arbor for the Michigan-WMU game and I am certainly glad they called it when the did. Driving back home from the game there was a tremendous thunderstorm with abundant lightning and and high winds. I certainly would have been very dangerous to be in the stadium when that one hit. Good thing Michigan was up and about to score again when saner heads prevailed. I am already looking forward to next week, the first night game in the Big House against the Irish. Here is to one team going to 2-0 and the other going to 0-2.

  9. First time seeing Wilco in Kalamazoo on the Winter aGIB tour, they opened with Via Chicago. That was the leg of the tour where they had the video screen behind them. At the noise breakdown, everything on the screen started shaking. Or maybe my mind was so blown away it just seemed that everything was shaking. Anyway, it was by far the most memorable opening of any show I have seen.

  10. Totally love Wilfred. Last night's best laugh for me:

Ryan: You son of a bitch!

Wilfred: How is that an insult? I've never understood that.

    Closely followed by:

    Ryan: Eat s**t! Eat s**t!

Wilfred: Again, your tone says insult, but what I'm hearing is a tempting offer.

  11. Has anyone become a fan of this show on FX? It is quite possibly the the most profane, fantastic, disturbed, psychotic, hilarious television comedy of all time. I can't recall the last time a television show generated so many out-loud guffaws, even when I watch it alone - which is all the time because my girlfriend refuses to watch it.

  12. Accomplishments: New job.

Big End-of-Summer Plans: Keep new job.

Actually, I am looking forward to Labor Day weekend which I consider the start of Fall. College football season kicks off that weekend with Michigan hosting WMU as a prelude to the very first night game at Michigan Stadium against ND the following week. And the season concludes in November with Nebraska and tOSU at Michigan Stadium and the inaugural B1G Championship Game in Indy (come on, it's okay to have delusions of grandeur, we are The Champions of the West). And let's not forget a certain record that is coming out in September as well.

  13.

    1. Hmmm. I know you won't mention my college (considering where you went to undergrad) but "Box Full Of Letters" was in pretty heavy rotation on WDBM in the mid 90's and I'm sure got tons of play on "Progressive Torch and Twang". That's where I got into Wilco.

    2. First show. The now defunct Michigan Festival in August of 1997. I think after that, I pretty much bought all their stuff.

Well, everyone else in my family went there, so I it isn't that bad a college, but since you mentioned PT&T, I loved that show and thought the hostess had the greatest voice ever! :wub

  14.

I think you mean 2/26/05 at the Kalamazoo State Theater. http://wilcobase.com...p?event_key=835

It was great show...I may have spent a little too much time at the Bell's Brewery before the show, though.

Yep, that's the one. I could have looked it up, but I thought I would rely on my memory. Note to self . . . stop trying to rely on my memory. And you, my friend, definitely started that night off on the right foot if you started at the Eccentric Cafe :cheers
