I was thinking that if he was hanging around he might join in on Sunday, but it looks like she got there early and joined him. He may still well reciprocate.
He's scheduled to perform with T-Bone Burnett on Sunday, so who knows what supergroup formations and cover choices might possibly ensue?
P.S. since the previous post I've got two new rear tyres. Does it show?Is that some British charming colloquialism that doesn't translate to these shores?
Those pictures look twangy.Oh, if you think they look twangy, you should've heard 'em, brother! Elvis wore a rootsy outfit--the others, not so much.
Elvis sure is a busy guy.He mentioned it was his third visit to the Bay Area this year (once with the symphony, another with Allen Toussaint). I don't know how we got so lucky.

How do you define "no-brainer"? Maybe this: a free Elvis Costello show not half a mile from my flat. Elvis held up his end of the bargain beautifully with a mix of newer songs, older but somewhat rarely played favorites, and inspired covers, in both solo acoustic treatment and with a sparkling backing band.
But then he invited Emmylou Harris onstage, and they did three songs together, including "I Still Miss Someone." And then Gillian Welch and David Rawlings joined them for even more chestnuts, such as a joyously rousing "Mystery Train." For the encore, we got more of Elvis and band ("Mystery Dance," "What's So Funny About Peace, Love, and Understanding," and "There's a Story in Your Voice," though without Lucinda), as well as the return of Emmylou, Gillian, and David.
In the end, we heard two hours of music, witness oodles of onstage magnetism, and left as giddy concert-goers. The sun even came out (for about five minutes)!
p.s. Andrew, please accept this as my apology for not seeing Emmylou this weekend. She was as beautiful as ever!

It's a very odd feeling, listening to this at the beginning of October.

speaking of which.... anyone here heard of the "Am i wrong" tune from love spit love????
its been one of those songs that i've loved for 12 years but no one seems to know who its from. the band was Love spit love - richard butler, from the psychedlic furs was the singer... classic tune from the end of 1994
Love that song, and many, many years later, I learned that a certain Jon Brion played piano on it.
However, their cover of "How Soon Is Now" made me cringe.

we like to ... walk around aimlessly.
Based on this, I say go to Austin. In all the other categories, the two towns are pretty evenly matched, though in completely different ways (and I love both places).

I think E's performance of "Girl You'll Be a Woman Soon" this past Friday at Largo was really meant for you. Happy birthday, Bridget!

You are the only person who could appreciate the momentousness of this event: I made a meatloaf last night. It was officially "not bad". .
, indeed. What was the occasion?
Does it count as a "craft" if you go to the local mall with a picture of Bucky from "American Idol," and get said picture printed on t-shirts for every member of your extended family? When will the "So You Think You Can Dance" shirts be ready?

I'm so pathetically non-crafty it's ridiculous, but I was thinking of asking you to knit me up an arm splint cover for after my surgery on Friday. I'm now thinking I waited WAY too late.
Lemons --> lemonade. You can always turn it into a commemorative arm splint cover to celebrate your triumphant vanquishing of your tendon troubles.
I just made a grilled cheese-tomato-avocado sandwich. Does that count?

I bookmarked the Calendar page, so I noticed it looked different, but I didn't realize the changes applied to the whole site.
Looking forward to the Andrew Hill disc and performance...

Is there "Don't show me this option again" box for you to check?
Otherwise, you might want to reinstall the program.

Whew, I was afraid that Andrew was exercising his dry wit once again and was posting about this JoJo:
Evonne, you have a variety of couches, futons, air mattresses, and sleeping bags to choose from while you're up here. Come visit!

Not you, silly! (Never you!)
I'm thinking of a string of shows at Bottom of the Hill in the early days of Britpop. Sigh. And of course the Flaming Lips Boombox Experiment circa 1998. Grr!

Man, it was a weekend all right.
I can't believe it's been three years. Here's to many more!

There's a story in the NY Times about Chan today: 9 Lives and Counting: Cat Power Sobers Up.
Rich, you'll do well whichever show you choose, but as everyone has noted, you have to leave all your expectations at the door of any Cat Power gig. Both women are mesmerizing in their own ways; it really comes down to your personal tastes.

The old ones - man, I could have gone home after V. I used to listen to that song on repeat for entire afternoons.
I still do that with "Until You Came Along."
And as much as I love coastal living, I wish we got more Kraig Johnson face time out here.
Thanks for the reports, guys.

How hot did it get this year?

And a certain someone else ...
Yes, sir! She's scheduled for Sunday, I believe.
