  1. I wouldn't worry too much about being let down by the album as a whole. I'm not crazy about Side With The Seeds either (mainly because of Jeff's straining for vocals that are clearly out of his range), but there's plenty of great stuff on there, including Either Way, You Are My Face, and the title track.

This song is quite clearly within his range. Are you deaf?

  2. Well, if you'd sign up for the Wilco ensemble for next session, I bet Bob would get is song-figurin' out ninja skills working for you. :ninja Come on man, you know you want to sign up! Bob's got this song totally figured out and we are ready to rock it at the Sky Blue Sky record release party at the Hideout. Now all we need is groo. :D

You present a strong argument. Hopefully, I can still get into the class after I get my paycheck this week.

  3. cont'd

    e -14-14-14-14-----

    b 15-15-15-15------

    g --------------------

    d --------------------

    a --------------------

    e --------------------

I'm having some trouble getting this part to sound right/getting the timing down. Is this played as 16th note triplets (or something like that)?

  4. I was just messing around with this last night, after watching the tweedy solo DVD. I got it sounding pretty close by taking that Gumbopages tab for the solo, and looking at the notes. Then, I just picked out those notes while alternately strumming an Am chord. For example, the first riff would be like:

    e----------------------------0

    B----------------------------1

    G----------------------------2

    D--------------2-------------2

    A--0---0---3------3--2--0--0

    E-----------------------------0

  5. Ok well here's the little first lick that comes in at the 1:15.

    e 6-7-9-----6-7-8-------5-7--14-12-------------

    b -------8----------5------------------12---------

    g ------------------------------------------11-12-

    d --------------------------------------------------

    a --------------------------------------------------

    e --------------------------------------------------

It sounds like they play this lick three times during the song. The last time they play it, it sounds like the ending is slightly different. I can't quite figure it out (and I don't have a gutair on me to double-check) but it kind of sounds like this to me:

    e 6-7-9-----6-7-8-------5-7--14-12----------------

    b -------8----------5------------------12------------

    g -------------------------------------------------12-

    d ----------------------------------------------12----

    a ------------------------------------------12--------

    e -----------------------------------------------------
