That and "Blasting Fonda" would make my night.

Sorry. Still getting used to the new sneakers.

I teach H.S., and often play music in class. The kids usually laugh during the "nuthins." I suspect it's because of the misspelling.
-
After all these years, this is still my favorite opener.

Good luck elbowing your way back to the front. Seconded. I haven't heard it yet.

No, I'll be shouting Shhhhh!!! to all the talkers.
-
Some I bought, some were gifts. Of course I intended to watch them, and probably actually will someday, but it's definitely the act of collecting that's fun. You understand.

I have the first 6 seasons of Seinfeld on DVD, and have watched exactly 2 episodes. It's on so often in syndication that it doesn't seem necessary to tear off the plastic.
-
Me too. And I loved it a second time on DVD.

I'm thankful for the Nazis. Without Hitler, we wouldn't have all those awesome WWII movies.

Va Savoir / Jacques Rivette / France / 2001

I scored 100%. There was a dead giveaway for most: the quotes with sophisticated language or complex grammatical structures were Hitler's. No surprise.

I've only been listening for the last couple of hours, so I wouldn't hazard a ranking... but I'm with ya about the bongos. Sad indeed. It's a new sound for them, but I expect it will grow on me considerably (I'm definitely digging "The Captain"). Seeing them at Summerfest in 2-3 weeks.

Not sure where I'd place it in relation to Lost and Gone Forever and Keep It Together, but I too am finding this very enjoyable.

Gates of Heaven, yes. That's a good one, too. The only Morris films that I really didn't care for are Vernon, Florida and Fast, Cheap & Out of Control, although both have merits.
-
I admired The Fog of War a great deal, but my favorite Errol Morris movies are probably Mr. Death and The Thin Blue Line... check those out if you haven't already. Also worth seeing is his short-lived TV series called "First Person," which is now available on DVD. Some of those episodes rank among Morris' most incisive work, I think.

An Inconvenient Truth

Film snobs sometimes seem more interested in being associated with the baggage attached to certain movies rather than the works themselves. A true student of film ought to be egalitarian in their tastes, willing to dive into so-called "elitist" art, but equally willing to consider the pleasures of so-called "lesser" forms and genres. Biases just get in the way of the fun, at least in my experience. Anyway... I watched and enjoyed this today:

Two horror movies with wolf in the title. Am I bad film lover if I confess I preferred the Australian gorefest over Ingmar Bergman's portrait of a descent into madness?
-
Not top-of-the-line Altman, but I still had a blast hanging out with these particular characters for a couple of hours.

I agree--the performance Daniels gives is one of my favorites from last year. I also enjoyed the way the script is deeply resistant to "story," aiming instead for an impressionistic portrait of domestic discord, focusing on how the failings of these two parents trickle down into the lives of their kids (never worse than when the kids are used as pawns in the separation game). Good call on Grizzly Man, too.
