  1. I always skip over HMD, love the cd, just don't see its place on it!!

Oh phish, I think you are missing out. Remember this was when Glenn first joined the band,

so I always think of this as Jeff's homage to Glenn, even if it was written before he joined or by

    someone else.

  2. ......drew me in literally from the first musical notes.

......made me become a Wilco fanatic after being an REM fanatic for 15 years.

......restored my faith in rock and roll.

......introduced me to Jesus, etc., my favorite song since So. Central Rain.

  3. Don't know if this was posted last weekend, but Wilco was in last week's Entertainment Weekly in their

article 100 people we love or something like that. Another photo of the band and a short article.

  4. Anyone know if the article made it into the print edition? If you notice in the photo accompanying the article,

Mikael and Glenn are in the background of the pic, but the caption only mentions Nels, Jeff and John.

  5. We're going to have an outdoor wedding in one of the Indiana state parks...not sure which one yet. That will be decided this weekend.

And yes, I agree that the certainty of his outstanding performance would overshadow our vows.

It was just a fun idea.

You should still write to him and ask. The worst thing that can happen is no reply. Maybe he'll answer back!

If you did a private beach in Michigan, you could have him do Spiders. ;-)

  6. Where are you getting married? It might help if they aren't touring and you're getting married close to Chicago.

I agree with the earlier commenter: maybe you could have him do 3 songs, because otherwise his performance

would get more attention than the wedding.

  7. http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/space/06/22/s...e.ap/index.html

I can't believe Jeff Tweedy wasn't part of the team that went up in space to the space station!!!

This is also Wilco related news.

The fact that Wilco are NOT astronauts but should be is why its a Wilco related post.

I'd be glad to explain to you the relevance to this board of Wilco appearing on a nationally televised music program versus

them going into space. They have appeared on ACL and they have appeared on a couple of live radio programs to perform their music.

I guess I'm naive enough to think a programmer at MTV might be willing to listen to a few cards and letters sent in by members of this message board if we encouraged MTV to have Wilco on.

  8. But that old one is in the right section and this one isn't.

    :hmm

How is this a non-Wilco related post? The fact that Wilco is NOT a part of the announced lineup

but should be is why it is a Wilco related post.

And yes, I'm aware that the Police and JM have slightly more fans. It's not really a popularity

    contest though is it?

  9. I have to admit though, I prefer the faster, rockier, version of I'm Always In Love, like in IATTBYH.

Me too. The song is incomplete without the "whoo oooh's" toward the end. I definitely need to get me some more live

    versions of this song.

Candyfloss is also underrated IMO. I would love to know how they created that guitar sound in the song. Plus

it sounds like an early Elvis Costello song to me.

  10. The Indy show was my 2nd Wilco show. My 1st was the Purdue show on Oct. 4th. Seeing Jeff so happy and filled with energy at this show was awesome. I loved his little running in place Hummingbird dance. It was delightful. lol I got to meet the band afterwards. I got some pics and autographs. It was my boyfriend's, sister's, and brother's girlfriend's 1st Wilco show. I would say they definitely got a GREAT show! I can't wait til they come this way, again! :hyper

How did you go about securing a meeting with the band?

  11. Are people still hearing "What Light" on the radio? I don't really listen to FM radio myself, so I am just wondering

if SBS is still getting much airplay a few weeks after the record coming out. I have to plead ignorance about the

rules of radio play: does the band approve what songs are released as singles or can a radio station on its own

play whatever they want from SBS?

  12. I agree that the KT version of Jesus, etc. has alot of layers. Just not the ones (mainly the strings) that

are in the studio version which make the song for me. Maybe flat is the wrong word.

It's one of my all-time favorite Wilco songs, and I would be miserable if they didn't play it live; I guess like someone was saying about IATTBYH, it's pretty much impossible to create some of the textures found in the studio version during a live show. I have some versions where they brought a strings player, but it's still not as good.

In thinking more about this since I first posted, Theologians is another song where I don't think the live version

    is an improvement.
