I have to say it was kind of boring too...and I absolutely love the new record, but I don't think was the song to sing....
I would have liked Either Way better, or maybe Leave Me (Lke You Found Me)....
Me too. All the way to NYC to play that number? Not much of a showcase for the band, really. I'd be curious to
know how the song was chosen. Jeff could have done it himself and saved the band the trouble of showing up.

wasnt that the same place that jeff was going on about buying the cd during one of his recent solo tours??
The very same one. I can't remember the story, other than it was hilarious.
-
I believe he tapes at 4:30 EST so hopefully someone at the show can clue is in ahead of time.
-
I printed the target webpage with it for 19.99 and went to best buy. They price matched it for me.
I always do that. I hate going to my local Target and Circuit City because they never have what i want. Best Buy does and even if they dont have it the cheapest they will price match.
I'm gonna try and do that. Though I have a Target in my 'hood, I doubt they have the deluxe SBS version. I know BB will have it.

Hate It Here has gotten some play on KFOG this week. That could definitely work.
Also: Don Rickles. I hope Ron Cey will be watching.
Don and Jeff both have an ascerbic kind of wit about themselves.
What is the Ron Cey-Don Rickles connection?

Any word on whether there were any tapers?
Sounds like an awesome show!!! IG as a show opener - I like it.

Now that I've had lunch, I remember that "Handshake Drugs" was the first song off of AGIB that
appeared in regular rotation on KFOG here in the Bay Area. Knowing that, I would actually be surprised if they
play "What Light" on the show. If they want to win over the audience, I would suggest "Hate it Here" - simple,
direct lyrics, compact song, rocks the house, and ends quietly, so the audience can burst in with loud applause.

Wilco's best since Summerteeth, according to Paste. More praise for Impossible Germany, too!

maybe its just becuase I'm really hoping for it, but I'd like to think Impossible Germany has a pretty decnet chance. At least it one of their more road tested songs, Walken would be too long.
Why is it being taken for granted that What Light? would be the favorite?? Because XRT plays it as their single?
Yeah, I guess cuz it's the first single I'm assuming that, but when AGIB came out, I think they played "I'm a Wheel"
on Leno and "Hummingbird" on Letterman. Don't know if either of those were officially released as singles. Anyone out there know?

Haight Street is correct!
And the Boom Boom Room, while perhaps an odd choice of venue for this event, is a very cool little club just across the street from The Fillmore.
Thanks for posting that gogo. What a great shot of the Band. "Wilco prize packages!!" Sweet.

At the Wilco store there is only a $5 differential between the regular CD edtion and the CD/DVD edition.
Usually when something comes out and is not in the Sunday ad papers I'll compare prices online. Really odd how much difference there is from store to store.
Target, Best Buy and Circuit City all have the regular edition for $11.99.
The big difference is the special edition:
Target = 19.99 ($8 diff)
CirCty = 20.99 ($9 diff)
BstBuy= 24.99 ($13 diff!!!)
Is there actual different packaging (i.e. physical content, photos) in the spec edition of just the DVD itself?
A single DVD (purchased in bulk to manufacture) probably costs very little. Don't understand the substantial difference.
I have noticed this, too. Not sure what the economics of this is. Since the list price difference between the 2 seems to be $6 ($18.99 vs. $24.99), I would have thought the CD/DVD would be available for something like $17.99. Maybe an econ major out there can explain. Seems like the Wilco Store is undervaluing its product compared to the marketplace.

I will blame Jay Bennett.

Found this while looking for a place to buy the CD/DVD other than Best Buy or Virgin:

I suppose we'll know as soon as someone who went to the show can post, but what do people think they will play?
Wish they would play: Impossible Germany
Think they will play: What Light
Wildcard: Hate it Here
Update: I'm not so sure about What Light anymore. If they want to blow the roof off the dump, they will probably
choose something more like Shake it Off or Walken.

This is at least the second review (Rolling Stone being the other) to highlight "Impossible Germany". I reiterate
my prediction that this will be the defining song of the album.
-
goddamn,
Nels's solo on the video of "Impossible Germany" is incredible.
especially at 13:30.
the man is a maniac.
i almost want to kiss him. haha.
Man oh man. I can't wait to get out of work so I can go get this and put it on.
God bless Wilco!!!!

This is one of my favorite lines from a review so far:
Cline has frequent moments of exquisite guitar work, with elegiac leads of liquid purity and agitated interaction with Tweedy's and/or Sansone's guitar that recall the transcendent architecture of the '70s band Television.
Elegaic leads of liquid purity and agitated interaction!!!

This will help you find a bunch of newspaper reviews. Looks like the LA Times has weighed in with 3 1/2 stars along with
the Detroit Free Press and Cleveland Plain Dealer reviews.

VH1.com
here's a mini unplugged set from a few years ago. it includes:
"Hummingbird (Live @ VH1.com)"
"Company in My Back (Live @ VH1.com)"
"Christ For President (Live @ VH1.com)"
Can someone tell me where and when this took place? I hadn't seen it before and it is awesome.

There are elements that are kind of impressionistic, like you said, lyric writing on this record, but in general I think the landscape is pretty clear. To me the one song isn

the blank/bonus track was mentioned on another review recent as well, wasnt it?
I have a sneaking suspicion that its LNGCA
-
For those that may not know, LNGCA was played live during the 9:30 show archived at NPR. That version
has a killer drum solo so I would be shocked if it doesn't have it, given the Klotche credit.
No sure why they didn't include it on the album - it rocks!
-
I think Jeff got a flustered trying to think of something witty to say. I'm kind of surprised he didn't explain where they were headed on tour.

As mentioned elsewhere, the file is probably there for the webcast on the 20th. Check the Wilco website for more info.
