  1. I think it's pretty typical. Apparently Ken Macha left a blank spot for third base to help out Eric Chavez.
  2. A company that has a stake in scaring companies about this pegs it at "more than $85 billion".
  3. Let's be clear, I don't think there's any law prohibiting companies from testing for alcohol.
  4. Hiring and firing are pains in the ass. Companies use the interview process to try to predict performance. Thus, the drug test. The entire process is speculative, unless you've worked for the company before.
  5. Obviously the argument for Jeter is that he led his team to the playoffs. I figured the guys I listed were more valuable in getting their teams to the playoffs. I wanted to use the same criteria to show how silly it is. The MVP is not a Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA).
  6. Three players that should be ahead of Jeter in MVP voting. 1. Justin Morneau. 2. Frank Thomas. Have you seen that lineup? 3. Johann Santana.
  7. http://dwp.samhsa.gov/DrugTesting/Files_Dr...heet041906.aspx Is the site I got that from. It seems to focus a lot on alcohol, which obviously is the most abused drug in the country.
  8. According to the gubment... Problems related to alcohol and drug abuse cost American businesses roughly $81 billion in lost productivity in just one year # US Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. (1995). Substance Abuse and Mental Health Statistics Sourcebook. Rockville, MD: US Department of Health and Human Services.
  9. 3 billion? The whole country? Really? That's pennies.

  11. If she was totally right, I take it you agree with her pre-emptive strike?
  12. Maybe you could just put a status notification in your signature or avatar so JessFlick wouldn't have to be creepy about it.
  13. Cool picture. Had you just woken up or were you still up from the night before?
  14. They've been cooked for a few days now. Lost 6 of 7. No signs of life, definitely no signs of winning 9 or 10 in a row, which is what they would've needed to do.
  15. The White Sox have gone hitless in their last 15 at-bats with runners in scoring position and are 6-for-43 in that same situation over their last seven games.
  16. I'd like Sir Stewart to post his story about getting hipchecked into the cat food dish so he wouldn't microwave the ice cream.
