  1. Next up: Someone recommended this months ago. Can't wait to start.
  2. You look like a perfect fit For a girl in need of a tourniquet But can you save me Come on and save me If you could save me From the ranks of the freaks Who suspect they could never love anyone 'Cause I can tell You know what it's like The long farewell of the hunger strike But can you save me Come on and save me If you could save me From the ranks of the freaks Who suspect they could never love anyone You struck me dumb like radium Like Peter Pan or Superman You will come to save me C'mon and save me If you could save me From the ranks of the freaks Who suspect they could never
  3. In South Carolina There are many tall pines I remember the oak tree That we used to climb But it makes me feel better Each time it begins Callin' me home Hickory Wind I started out younger At most everything All the riches and pleasures What else could life bring But now when I'm lonesome I always pretend That I'm gettin' the feel of Hickory Wind It's a hard way to find out That trouble is real In a far away city With a far away feel But it makes me feel better Each time it begins Callin' me home Hickory Wind Keeps callin' me home Hickory Wind
  4. Way down in the state of Georgia Through the swamps and the everglades There's a big hole in Tiger Mountain God help the man who gets lost in Miller's Cave I had a girl in Waycross Georgia But she had unfaithful ways She made me feel like I wasn't wanted Like the bats and the bears in Miller's Cave I caught her out one Sunday morning With a man they call big Dave He's the meanest man in the state of Georgia I'd rather fight a mountain lion in Miller's Cave I said you'll pay both you and David I'm gonna see you in your grave They laughed at me and then I shot 'em I took their cheating, sc
  5. You may be sweet and nice But that won't keep you warm at night 'Cause I'm the one who showed you how To do the things you're doing now He may feel all your charms He may hold you in his arms But I'm the one who let you in I was right beside you then Once upon a time You let me feel you deep inside And nobody knew, nobody saw Do you remember the way you cried? I'm your toy, I'm your old boy But I don't want no one but you to love me No, I wouldn't lie You know I'm not that kind of guy Once upon a time You let me feel you deep inside And nobody knew, nobody saw Do you remember t
  6. Ah, now you're all making me want to put in on. Guess I will.
  7. It makes no diff'rence where I turn I can
  8. Sky cracks open, walls falling to the floor Just as well to keep it, a guessing game in store You're with me now, will be again All other points in between And the cruel, cruel mornings Have turned to days of swim or sink If living right is easy, what goes wrong You're causing it to drown Didn't want to turn that way You're causing it to drown Doesn't make a difference now You're causing it to drown Silence knows, can't drown a heart Happenstance is falling through the cracks each day Too close now to change it Fool's gold is lighter anyway When in doubt, move on, no need to sort it
  9. Oh yes! This is the second book of his that I have read. The chapters are arranged like this: Introduction The Human Bumblebee xiii Chapter 1 Desire: Sweetness / Plant: The Apple Chapter 2 Desire: Beauty / Plant: The Tulip Chapter 3 Desire: Intoxication / Plant: Marijuana Chapter 4 Desire: Control / Plant: The Potato His premise is that there is no existential difference between human being's and bumblebee's role in the garden. He is such a wonderful, sensual writer. His descriptions of the rose Cuisse de Nymphe Emue in Second Nature made me blush.
  10. "So I went to visit an organic potato farmer and this farm was a completely different place. His soil was completely different. It smelt like life."
  11. Heard this Waits for the first time last night: It's dreamy weather we're on You wave your crooked wand Along an icy pond With a frozen moon A murder of silhouette crows I saw And the tears on my face And the skates on the pond They spell Alice I'll disappear in your name But you must wait for me Somewhere across the sea There's a wreck of a ship Your hair is like meadow grass On the tide And the raindrops on my window And the ice in my drink Baby, all that I can think of Is Alice Arithmetic, Arithmetock I turn the hands back on the clock How does the ocean rock the boat How did the razo
  12. No, I have the awesome, comprehensive anthology.
  13. HB #1 is one of my all time fave songs.
  14. Didn't you ever feel like the largest Elizabeth in the World? Usually at a time when the boy is oblivious to the girl Ireadinthepapertheotherdaythishasbeenhappeningtoeverbodymoreandmore Thescientistsareonthecasebuttheystilhaven'tfiguredoutwhatitisthatitis happening for Slow down, slow down, slow down Wouldn't you like to feel like yourself after suffering so many years? If you were asked to the party by somebody else you wouldn't be sitting home in tears Ormaybeyou'reoneofthoseinterestingpeoplewhodon'tgooutbuttheygettheirbest
  15. My copy was 'lost' for a while. I'll trade. Warning: Hot dolphin sex.
  16. Third time. One of my all time faves.
  17. I realize it was to make a point...however publicly...but that is one of my favorite Neil Young songs. Only love Can make it rain The way the beach is kissed by the sea Only love Can make it rain Like the sweat of lovers Laying in the fields. Love, reign o'er me Love, reign o'er me, rain on me Only love Can bring the rain That makes you yearn to the sky Only love Can bring the rain That falls like tears from on high Love reign O'er me On the dry and dusty road The nights we spend apart alone I need to get back home to cool cool rain I can't sleep and I lay and I think The night i
  18. Cool book, red. Just got it today:
  19. This is one of the most beautiful verses in the history of verses. It fucks me up every time...
  20. ...And for the change you allowed to manifest, I admire you more than you know.
  21. I read that some years ago. I think I have read a hundred books dealing with alcohol addiction. Trying to make sense of my loved ones. It is sad, but I have no deeper understanding of it than I started with. Except that there are no magic words that one can say to change the course of someone's life. Or in my case, their death.
