  1. Watched a piece of this last night, till I fell asleep. I may rent this or try to catch it again on IFC, because it piqued my curiousity, and I'm not that much of a fan. Interesting group of people for sure. Oak City. Who knew?
  2. So, with all of those elements going for it, did you like it?
  3. I finally watched Brokeback Mountain last night. The cinemetography was lovely, the acting adequate, the sex hot, and Larry McMurtry helped write the screenplay. In spite of all of this, my reaction was, "Meh." I just never connected with any of the characters.
  4. I'm beginning my summer reading with this book. Not sure that it's the ideal book to read poolside, but his language is lyrical and rhythmic.
  5. No way! OMG, I was undone watching that movie, and by Emily Watson particularly. My heart is beating faster just thinking of her.
  6. Funny, Wonder Boys film, (and book), was the subject of conversation last night. I have never seen it. It's on my list now!
  7. Watched this last night, hopped up on too much caffeine! This is a moving fable set in 1970s Scotland, about the power of love and faith. This was Emily Watson's film debut, and she is luminous and devastating. The quality of the filming was grainy and high contrast. The filming technique was unusual: "In modern film editing, the original film footage is transferred to video where it is edited to its final cut, then used as a guide for a negative cutter going back to the original film footage. In the case of this film, however, they just recorded the video edit back to 35mm, resulting in its
  8. Rereading. This is a fascinating book, and one of the most erotic books I've ever read. Recommended!
  9. I love that story too. Such poignant lyrics..."My Lili of the lamplight..." *sigh* Underneath the lantern By the barrack gate, Darling, I remember The way you used to wait, 'Twas there that you whispered tenderly, That you loved me, you'd always be, My Lili of the lamplight, my own Lili Marlene.
  10. Baby, see how I been living Velvet curtains on the windows to Keep the bright and unforgiving Light from shining through Baby, I remember all the things we did When we slept together In the blue behind your eyelids Baby, sweet baby Traced your scent through the gloom 'Til I found these purple flowers I was spent, I was soon smelling you for hours Lavender, lotus blossoms too Water the dirt, flowers last for you Baby, sweet baby Tangerines and persimmons And sugarcane Grapes and honeydew melon Enough fit for a queen Lemon trees don't make a sound 'Til branches bend and fruit falls to
  11. It's raining down roses on the stop where you stand As you wait for the morning train The woman beside you, her shoulders are smoking Her eyes are filling with flame And it's nothing new, happens each day Everyone turns away And back on the platform, the wings of the ragman Are stretching and shaking and shining, shining like rain The street that you live on is brush strokes on canvas You'd see it if you turned around The sky fell last wednesday and broke into pieces And every shard made a sound But it's nothing new, happens each day And everyone turns away It's the clock in your kit
  12. I actually watched no TV, movies, or even whatever this weekend. Shocking, I know.
  13. Louie Louie, oh no Me gotta go Aye-yi-yi-yi, I said Louie Louie, oh baby Me gotta go Fine little girl waits for me Catch a ship across the sea Sail that ship about, all alone Never know if I make it home Louie Louie, oh no Me gotta go Aye-yi-yi-yi, I said Louie Louie, oh baby Me gotta go Three nights and days I sail the sea Think of girl, constantly On that ship, I dream she's there I smell the rose in her hair. Louie Louie, oh no Me gotta go Aye-yi-yi-yi, I said Louie Louie, oh baby Me gotta go Okay, let's give it to 'em, right now! See Jamaica, the moon above It won't be long, me
  14. I took a picture that I'll have to send People here are friendly and content People here are colorful and bright The flowers often bloom at night Amanita is the name The flowers cover everything The flowers cover everything There's something here I find hard to ignore There's something that I've never seen before Amanita is the name they cover over everything The flowers cover everything They cover over everything (Amanita is the name) The flowers cover everything Don't look into the sun Don't look into the sun There's something that I've never seen before The flowers often bloom at
  15. My life is changing in so many ways I don
  16. When I was young and full of grace And spirited - a rattlesnake When I was young and fever fell My spirit, I will not tell You're on your honor not to tell I believe in coyotes and time as an abstract Explain the change, the difference between What you want and what you need, there's the key, Your adventure for today, what do you do Between the horns of the day? I believe my shirt is wearing thin And change is what I believe in When I was young and give and take And foolish said my fool awake When I was young and fever fell My spirit, I will not tell You're on your honor, on your honor T
  17. You know that I love you, Baby, but you just won't let me. You know that I love you, Baby, but you just won't let me. Every morning I get up, I sip my cup; My eyes get red, no-one to hear me. One more thing I'd like to say right here, Baby, but you just won't let me. One more thing I'd like to say right here, Baby, but you just won't let me. I'd like to say:baby, you so nice: I'd like to do the same thing twice, yeah! Baby, you so nice. I'd like to do the same thing twice. I love you so much, so-o-o- Love you - love you, baby, so much. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I live in the woods al
  18. Buckets of rain Buckets of tears Got all them buckets comin' out of my ears. Buckets of moonbeams in my hand, I got all the love, honey baby, You can stand. I been meek And hard like an oak I seen pretty people disappear like smoke. Friends will arrive, friends will disappear, If you want me, honey baby, I'll be here. Like your smile And your fingertips Like the way that you move your lips. I like the cool way you look at me, Everything about you is bringing me Misery. Little red wagon Little red bike I ain't no monkey but I know what I like. I like the way you love me strong and slow, I
  19. They sent him to the sweet by and by With a gurney and a needle and a Texas lullaby At the time I was doing the dishes. I rinsed off a glass and set it to dry, Turned off the radio, closed my eyes And I wished that horses were wishes The children next door had come out to play. Their voices carried on the bright green day. And who are we? Who are we anyway?
  20. I spotted several black Wilco fans at the KC show last night, and thought of you.
