Story's Long, Story's Old - Nick Ferrio and His Feelings
This story’s long, this story’s old
This story is better left untold
Some might say, let this story fade away
To the grave, where the story ends
Twists and turns, foes and friends
With no amends just odds and ends
Left untied
The night she died or disappeared
Drinks were drank, drinks were cheered
No one knew something that bad
Could happen here
A fight broke out, a lover’s quarrel
But for him and her that was normal
They went separate ways
He went south, She went north:
She never returned
And now she’s gone, Long gone
And he’s singing his haunted songs
About her ghost, and I hope
Time can forgive his troubled mind
Some time, some time
The cops attempted to make contact
With the driver of a Pontiac
Word came down after a couple of days
He’d been found
Twine was tied above a wooden chair
An awful stench hung in the air
A swaying creak echoed loud and proud
For anyone to hear
Maybe she lived and ran away
Got a job and changed her name
But that’s all the same
It’s neither here and neither there
A fight broke out, a lover’s quarrel
But for him and her that was normal
They went separate ways
He went south, She went north:
She never returned
And now she’s gone, Long gone
And he’s singing his haunted songs
About her ghost, and I hope
Time can forgive his troubled mind
Some time, some time -
Ghost Shirt - Meds
I believe in medicine and lucky charms and darkness you can't see
Movement of her hips against the scene
Vacuuming the neighbor's house
The kids downstairs are watching their TV
Bedroom bottles lining up for meInto the city
Into the lights and the glow
I'm waiting for something
Waiting for you I don't know
I don't know
Small days and big nights won't let me goHer lashes bat out 3/4ths time
A funeral procession for the blind
all telephones all quite at this time
Sick of waiting round the dial
Want to kiss you
Want to start a fight
Watch the pages scatter through the nightInto the city
Into the lights and the glow
I'm waiting for something
Waiting for you
I don't know
Small days and big nights won't let me go -
Finally got a real, version of this and I love it even more. In concert Nick is this big, goofy, happy to be alive, kid.

Selling off hundreds and hundreds of CDs (after first backing them up twice to a Mac Mini). So what am I doing with the proceeds? - buying all the Pye Kinks discs, yet again.
I'm a sucker. ' Walter, my old friend, where are you now.'

I am FUCKING devastated. RIP Jason Molina.
NP - Songs: Ohia - Mi Sei Apparso Come Un Fantasma
don't think I've been this affected by a musician death since Elliot Smith,

Cheers. Love that album. Have not listened to his latest demo-type release. Yet.
-
what is it with all the nudie album covers????

Oh that was fun. Only a short set with Chicken Bill and Time Forgot the highlights.
Talked a lot to Aaron the pedal steel player and Ian Romano who was working merch. I didn't quite understand how important these two guys are to the whole process with Ian being the producing mastermind behind the records and also doing the Nick Ferrio LP.
Also talked to Spencer Burton from Romano's old band Attack in Black. Gonna try to get a booking for Burton.

Grey Kingdom - Light, I'll Call Your Name Out Darkness

He's another bandmate of Ferrio and Romano. He also makes preserves. Seriously, his Marmalde and Apple pies are delicous.

very Waits.

I'm still soaking it in, but I am enjoying it. I am a big fan of the other 3 records as well. Between Romano & Ferrio, there's some great country music coming out of Canada these days.
So true. Don't know what it is - something in the water, but that Ferrio Album is just exquisite. Turns out he is some school friend of my daughter and I had no idea until the facebook birthday wishes were exchanged.
-
That's some good listening right there.
Yeah agree. That Son Volt is pretty pretty good.

Thanks for the review.
He was on a Canadian morning show today

one more sleep and he is at my hall. Should be fun.

Kenneth Stringfellow.
Looks like there were a huge dozen of fans at recent Ontario shows. Hope my hometown treats him better.

Oh man - Check out the Otis Gibbs podcast with Marshall Crenshaw;
'Marshall throws out a great quote that Keith Richards once told him. (Paraphrasing) ***You know something is good when someone is willing to steal it from you.***

these are a treasure.

Just listened to this today. Wow, thanks for the heads up! I enjoyed it very much, especially for the UT and Wilco content, but also his other remarks. I had no idea John Mellencamp was such a well-known asshole.
Cheers.

while trying to figure out the stupid new version of Itunes, I bought another copy of this. And I am ok with that. What a great record.

Listening to a boot of one of the January shows. Much much better than that live at Jittery Joes thing.

Thanks. Gonna go get it.
Umm how is the Jim Guthrie? I'm less inclined to like his stuff, meaning it's ok and all, but I'm too far into the Aaron Ritchies side of things.
