Jay Farrar (and Friends): New Multitudes
lizish replied to Vacant Horizon's topic in Someone Else's Song
Managed to install spotify yesterday. I think the hotel's IP address must have been American, cause as far as I know, Spotify is not available in the oil republic of Canuckistan. very very very cool and it seems to still be working at a non-American IP address at least for this morning. Nice to hear the bonus tracks without resorting to some pirate Blog. -

New Multitudes. It is out everywhere except Canada, where it is delayed because Nonsuch cannot meet a release date. Probably gonna skip the new MA stuff. I bet it is all culled Natalie Merchant material. -

Shit. Nonesuch has a terrible distribution provider up here. 'Delayed until TBA' is the response. Can't wait to hear this properly. -

Isn't it great! Not trying to rub it in, but he's been part of a couple Julie Dorion residency shows on January. Marvelous stuff in a 20 person room.

Yeah - saw him open for the Low Anthem on Wednesday night. Good guy. Love the vid. He played Massey hall (which is quite the deal) a week or so ago as part of City and Colour and was still elated about it.

I saw a newspaper picture from the political campaign A woman was kissing a child, who was obviously in pain She spills with compassion, as that young child's face in her hands she grips Can you imagine all that greed and avarice coming down on that child's lips Well I hope I don't die too soon I pray the Lord my soul to save Oh I'll be a good boy, I'm trying so hard to behave Because there's one thing I know, I'd like to live long enough to savour That's when they finally put you in the ground I'll stand on your grave and tramp the dirt down

Damn, the vid for Whip Poor Will was deleted from Youtube and the old band site is gone. anyway, here is a goofy Simple Minds cover: 'no - you're thinking of Simply Red' http://www.box.com/s/8p4sp2bhpkd5g82b0vmc

You will love 2008's Strangest Color Lights. There are more songs by the guy who sounds like Mark Linkhous, which are ok, but it is the other guy (Brad Armstrong ?) whose voice is on songs like Dr Bill and Stars. I like his stuff better. Bug me. I've got the bonus tracks for Strangest Color Lights and the 2009 demo version of Garland which I should be able to zip up. There is also my ultimate 'bring the rock' version of Bury Me on youtube. The version on SCLs is acoustic. Cicada from 2005 (?) - also really really good. Have not heard their other 2011 release and need to put an order in t
