  1. Alligator. If Boxer had even one song that ripped it like Lit Up, it would be a toss up. Lately I've not even noticed that one Boxer track has transitioned to another. Sure, around track 7 or 8 , Alligator is sorta boring after a great start; then All the Wine kicks in and it roars on to Mr November. Boxer gets into a smooth music groove and Steely-Dans it right to the end, lacking the tracks that kick you awake. I'm quibbling with a great cd but it is just that Bridget sometimes sucks donkey balls and is wrong. If you have the downloading means, My real opinion on the place to start w
  2. Buckner - Song of 27 Though I may be miles away from her With years that pass without a word I
  3. and plus - I don't get the big deal with Richmond Fontaine. Last thing I heard was 'the Fitzgerald' and it made me never ever want to listen to them again. Never seen them live tho'
  4. yes GO!!!!!!!! Meilburg sticks around at the merch table for what seems like hours afterwards. If you even sort of liked the last cd, seeing them live will make you love it. I'm trying to remember if Sheff had much to do with Palo Santo. I don't think so....
  5. oh yeah. Gotta say that I LOVE her voice without the reverb and hate it when it gets all drenched. Ie on that last Sadies Live CD she sounded great, yet I can't bring myself to ever listen to the Tigers Have Spoken. Yeah , I know, I should be able to get past it, but I wish she would turn down that pedal or whatever it is and let Carl Newman have full production control on her next solo cd. This must be the strongest year for new music since , I dunno 2003 with Meadowlands, Time Bomb High School, Welcome Home Loser , Feast of Wire, MEC and Hello Starling. And I certainly haven't
  6. man, this sounds so good, why don't we just make it the best cd of the year right now and thank everyone else for coming out.
  7. Cheers B - again, If you don't like it, I don't want to know...... Although Dressy and I Walk By Your House are easily on my desert Island mix tape. No pressure though Two Minute Miracles - Vol 3
  8. Wow - talk about an impenetrable force, the Heartless Bastards hit the El Mocambo on Wednesday night. As a power trio, I guess it is sorta easy to sound exactly like your records, but jeezus was this fun and loud. Bonus
  9. Broken Family Band - A Little Justice We beat our hands against the doors Still no one answers and we
  10. Rock Plaza Central - Quantum Butterass (this seems strictly for the die-hard fans, like me) I was talking to Andy Magoffin (the producer of the 2nd RPC album) on Friday and he mentioned that Chris Eaton has one strange and off-putting email style. Artists I guess.
  11. you better go! I'm dragging a couple families with me to the magic stick in Detroit on July 29th and taking the following day off. 'God Bless the fuckin lot of us'
  12. Broken Family Band - Hello Love I'm just now thinking that this is the best thing I've heard this year. A Little Justice is a great protest song - except I have no idea what it is protesting about.
  13. so two of my favourite members get their Blogs quoted on the brakes main page. http://www.brakesbrakesbrakes.com/ and both are above whatever NME says. and then from the notes from the road section:
  14. Beautiful pics Jen! sigh, I love weddings.
  15. Trying to decide between Heartless Bastards tonight or Chris Garneau. He seems more in the lispy-andrewbird/whispery Brooklyn mold. Think I'll stick with the tiny siren that is Erika from the HBs.
  16. from the Myspace Blog (and I don't know which band member of writing it, but it's not Eamon) about the TO show: and this: fuck, I would have put them up, but not done a table dance.... Gotta say they stayed in the shittiest whore and Hell's Angel/Crack dealer motel in the town.
  17. I didn't listen to much else for the 1st quarter of this year. In fact ODding on BFB sort of made all the other releases seem not that good. Until the Black Lips pulled me from the rut: Hands - do you really want to hold my dirty hands? Me and Bobby went to by the the beach this summer We build castles in the sand And smoked dope by the water Then I got a dolphin tattoo on either side of my bellybutton And Bobby got one that said 'Panama Beach 3003'
  18. B- that's f'ing great. Yah gotta hear both Jesus and Cold Water Songs. I don't think the band has made a misstep yet and now after seeing Brakes, they are at the top of my 'Wish they would tour here' list. NP - Waits - Orphans - The Road to Peace. I love that song.
  19. Yeah, new to me band, but I love that record. It's also hard to believe such a big voice could come from such a small person.
  20. Don't fight it Don't fight it Don't fight it It will only do you good.
