One of the tracks from the album is getting a lot of radio play over here, on 6Music at least, and I liked it... not heard the full album yet mind and over the radio the production doesn't matter so much.

It's not at all like how I'd imagined. It's really lo-fi, folk-tinged, acoustic songs. It's really nice. Nothing mind blowing, but good.

I wonder though if this is becoming a "default setting" when producing / engineering albums?

This compressions and loundess is quite apparent between new and old CD's. Listening to Morrissey's "Vauxhall and I" the record breathes, but also you have to turn the volume up on the stereo a lot more than you would on his latest album.

Yeah, and that concert was great. Watched it over christmas, bought it for my Dad, fantastic stuff. Always good to see Stevie Nicks as well

EDIT: Their version of "Under Pressure" is fan-fucking-tastic.
