Pecan_Pie
Do anyone know something about Reel to Reel recorders? Good Brands, Cheap Prices, etc.I'm looking into buying one and need help. Thanks,Charlie
Analogman
If I was you, I would dig around on Ebay. A new one will cost you several thousand dollars. http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jul04/articles/qa0704-3.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reel-to-reel_..._tape_recording Also - think about parts when you buy such a thing - as the bands and clutch will surely go or will already be busted. May be best to find something newer - if possible. I like old stuff - but one has to be prepared to work on such things.
squarewave
Tandberg & Teac/Tascam are the best, but make sure that someone still has parts available if it breaks. You will almost have to search model for model... Google is your friend here, do your research. Also, you will have to manually clean your tapes, and de-magnetize the tape path on just about anything you buy. Did you inherit some boots on reels or something?? If that is the case, you may just wish to have them transferred to CD by a professional from a well maintained machine vs. buying some 20+ year old science project on Ebay or Audiogon and possibly screwing up your tapes the first time you send them through. bxb03a
Tascam 388 Check it out.... Or for a little more versatility get a Tascam 38 and then a good analog mixer like the Tascam m-316b
