c53x12
"Under state law, foreign flags can only be in the classroom because it's tied to the curriculum. And the principal looked at the curriculum, talked to the teacher, and found that there was really no curriculum coming up in the next few weeks that supported those flags being in the classroom," said Jeffco Public Schools spokeswoman Lynn Setzer. It sounds to me like the school administration had a lot of latitude in interpreting this law. Maybe this teacher was just an insubordinate jerk and they wanted him gone anyway, who knows.
Duck-Billed Catechist
Not the only state in the union with stupid flag-in-classroom laws. Doesn't Florida have one mandating that all classes must have American flags of a certain (rather large) size? I bet there are more states with said laws, too.
anodyne
the teacher decided not to return to work in that atmosphere. i'm sure the district and the students will be far better served by a long term sub without flags. *sigh*
