kamera
These bumper stickers were compiled by Jerry Paull, a formerMethodist (those radicals!) minister in Lakeside, Ohio, who writes: "The following actual bumper stickers are now on cars. tugmoose
Pretty funny. Democrats are good at being funny. Now can they win in November? I don't care whether it's with new ideas or just ripping on Bush - if they can't knock this softball out of the park, maybe they're not ready for the majors.

Atticus
might want to check up on oil price history: link
plasticeyeball
?? why, the 1999 price was $19, or did you mean they should have used the $12 or $13 price from "98" on the bumper sticker?
bjorn_skurj
It said in the Al Gore movie that the Arabs will wait until people invest a bit in alternative energy and then drop oil prices so the investors in alternative energy will all lose their money. Then they will raise oil prices again.
cryptique
It said in the Al Gore movie that the Arabs will wait until people invest a bit in alternative energy and then drop oil prices so the investors in alternative energy will all lose their money. Then they will raise oil prices again.Possibly, but I doubt people will lose their money. Alternative energy is needed no matter what -- not because we need to cut our dependence on foreign oil, but because we need to cut our dependence on oil itself. If you believe the "peak oil" crowd, there's not much of the stuff left anyway. With China increasing its demand exponentially, and western demand continuing to rise, it won't be too much longer before we've simply exhausted the world's supply. Now, does that mean five years, a decade, twenty-five years? Well, what's the difference? Either way, we are going to need a reliable non-petroleum-based source of energy that will let us run our vehicles and power plants and factories and everything else, and that fact won't change if oil prices happen to plummet at some point. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go gas up my car.
Atticus
this chart shows the adjusted price from 1946 to June 2006 (you have to click on the chart in the link) Oil Prices Bush took office in January of 2001 correct? It appears, at least from this chart (I'm certainly no petroleum analyst, so if this chart is a piece of crap, please provide a more accurate one--just the first one I came across) that in January of 2001, in adjusted dollars, the price of crude was in the mid-$30s. Crude today is at $66.70. I just thought the numbers seemed a little off... not trying to start a big thing. I need to add the disclaimer that I think Bush has been a total moron on spending and fiscal policy, so I'm no Bush apologist. I just think it's a bit shortsided to blame the oil prices solely on this man... From what I read, it appears that we're experiencing a $20 to $30 "political premium" on oil today--under the logic that if, let's say, a war broke out between Iraq and Iran or Iran and pretty much anyone, oil may shoot up to over $100 (like the early 80s), so therefore buyers are buying now at this "inflated" price. No question that Bush's foreign policy has contributed significantly to this. Anyone on this board experienced/well-read in this field. I'd be interested in opinions re same... Edie
Mine says "01/20/09: Bush's last day". It is the first and only bumper sticker I have ever affixed to a vehicle of mine. Hopefully it will be sooner.
