owl
It's $15 plus whatever Ticketmaster wants to gouge me out of. Is it worth it? Tell me about your DBT and Bobby Bare experiences.
Nobody Girl
$15 is worth it just for Drive-By Truckers. They kick so much ass live. I went to their New Year's Eve show in New York a couple of years ago just because I was in town anyway to see Wilco at Madison Square Garden. It turned out to be one of the best concerts I've been to. I hadn't heard any of their songs before that show, but I loved it so much that I bought The Dirty South and some of their other stuff. (Plus I'm seeing them twice on this tour!) You should definitely go.
rareair
It's $15 plus whatever Ticketmaster wants to gouge me out of.Is it worth it? Tell me about your DBT and Bobby Bare experiences. i can think of worse ways to blow $20. i have only seen DBT once but loved it, and they are supposed to usually kick ass live. bbj's new album is really good imo. saw him play both in chicago with louieb and in nashville warming up for this tour, and thought he sounded great. if the venue is a good one, i would go. Leo
GO !!!Haven't seen DBT yet but am planning to see them this tour. I have seen BBJr twice and consider him one of the best live performers out there. The $20.00 is worth it for him alone.
Mrs. Peel
DO NOT SKIP THIS SHOW.Like Nobody Girl, I went to the NYC show the night after Wilco on NYE, and although I had a couple of their albums nothing could have prepared me for the 3 1/2 hour onslaught of amazing rock I witnessed. I'll be seeing them next week with Bobby Bare Jr as well. Can't fucking wait.A word of warning though, bring earplugs. Seriously.
Dr. Steve Brule
You must not miss it. The new BBJ album is FUCKING AWESOME too. His first two were growers, but on first listen to the new one I was like "DAMN!!"
jimmyjimmy
Is it worth it? "Pfffft"........ YES! Tell me about your DBT experiencesSeen them three times this year; (DBT I mean). In February I was left with tinnitus and the accompanying obligatory "ringing" in the ears for weeks later. As soon as that cleared up I saw 'em again. With ear plugs.Go to this show.
Zeppelinster
I'll be seeing that show in a week in a half. Can't wait.
owl
Hahaha, I think we're talking about the same show here, Zepp. Dang, I don't like earplugs. I guess I should also get to know DBT before I go. The new Bare CD is pretty damn good. Way better than the last one, although Motherfucker is an awesome song.

Way better than the last one, although Motherfucker is an awesome song.If we're talking about the Lancaster show (that's the one I'll be at), what better thing can there be to do in Lancaster on a Wednesday (or any day of the week for that matter) then see the DBT & BBJ? Seriously. Plus the Chameleon is a good small place to see a show.
owl
Yeah, I think I'll plan to go. I really want to see BBJ. I wonder what the odds are that it'll sell out? And yeah, the Chameleon's alright. It's nice to see they're getting some decent shows again. They were really stinking it up for a while, there.

I saw DBT once and dug them (take earplugs) and BBJ serveral times. BBJ is worth the price of admission alone. But if you really aren't into "country music" (whatever that means) neither will be your cup of tea. (Hey rareair, which BBJ gig was that?) LouieB
owl
BBJ is the main reason I want to go.
Zeppelinster
It's really hard to say w/ that place & who knows how many people in the area even know of DBT or BBJ, it's not like they're on the radio or anything. I went to a MMJ show there a couple years back after It Still Moves came out & expected the place to be pretty empty, but it was packed.
owl
Yeah. Last time I went was about a month ago to see Make Believe (opening for Cursive). I was surprised to see so many people enjoying Make Believe.
delmarkurt
Are you joking? DBT rocks! Go! Go to multiple show if possible!
Mrs. Peel
But if you really aren't into "country music" (whatever that means) I would call it "Southern Rock" before I'd call it "country". DBT anyway. Even if you've never heard a note, do yourself a favor and check them out.

Even if you've never heard a note, do yourself a favor and check them out.Well sure it is Southern Rock, which was what some country rock was called before it was called alt.country, which is basically what BBJ is, so I was going generic I guess. Neither could be really classified as "country", but both have roots in country. Neither twangs very much since both rock more than twang. Either way I concur, I would like to see this show. owl
Cool. I'm going to order tickets.
rareair
(Hey rareair, which BBJ gig was that?) LouieB The show was at the Old Town Folk Music Hall (I think that is the name) around the end of May, and he played with his dad. great show and loved the venue. He played several songs off his new album, which I believe was recorded in one day. i cannot quit listening to it.

In fact it was a gas particularly when we went to the bar after the show and hung with the band. LouieB

LouieB
agreed. i had a blast. and, yes, you really need to get this album.Yea, its not like I can't find it; Laurie's has the complete Bloodshot catalogue or I could just drop by the Bloodshot offices too. What was I thinking? (Oh yea it must be that pile of as yet unheard CDs and LPs I have at home.... ) Come on back to Chicago sometime too.... LouieB
Sweet Papa Crimbo
Me too. I saw DBT once and dug them (take earplugs) and BBJ serveral times. BBJ is worth the price of admission alone.
