El Picador
Hey all you SoCal music lovers. It's another one of my "come out and see Banyan" posts. Seriously, these guys effin' rule. Nels Cline will be playing tonight. If you haven't seen them, come out tonight and join the frenzy. If you have, you know what I mean. Line-up for tonight: Stephen Perkins - DrumsMike Watt - BassNels Cline - GuitarWillie Waldman - TrumpetNorton Wisdom - Paint The Mint6010 W. Lammycat
I've seen these cats a bunch (most recently a month or so ago w/Norton, as well....no Mike Watt but a guy from Zappa's band Fareeque and Haque, too) and they do seriously jam. Perkins is the ringleader and they cover a lot of Jazz. Rob Wasserman plays with them intermittently as well. Good to see Nels with them again. He plays on their Lp and sits in when he can. Enjoy. Hixter
I saw them at DiPiazzas last night in Long Beach for the millionth time. It's fun to watch: 1) Norton paint2) Nels play3) Watt's slack-jawed stage expressions4) Perkins' grinning5) Willie's fist-pump-joint-smoking gestures

This will be my first time to see them in L.A. I'm leaving right now to catch Watt's set with Los Punkinhedz. Free gig in San Pedro. Then to see Banyan.
