Lyrics for What Light...

Recommended Posts

can someone direct me? :thumbup

Take Lyndale to the horizon.

take Nicollet out to the ocean.

take Penn Ave out to the 494.

meet me right in front of the fabric store. :thumbup

Try a thread search for lyrics, surely they are all here by now.

It's really not hard to figure them out if you listen. ;)

The only tricky parts are whether he's saying "what light," "one light," or "white light" at various points. Also, I think it's "stung awake in the night," though it might be "stone awake."

Here found these by doing the thread search! :yes

What Light

If you feel like singin' a song

And you want other people to sing along

Just sing what you feel

Don't let anyone tell you it's wrong

And if you're trying to paint a picture

But you're not sure what colors belong

Just paint what you feel

Don't let anyone tell you it's wrong

If you're strung out like a kite

Or stuck awake in the night

It's alright to be frightened

When there's a light

What light?

And there's a light

What light?

There's a light

White light

Inside of you

If you think you might need somebody

To pick you up when you drag

Don't lose sight of yourself

Don't let anyone change your bag

And if the whole world is singing your songs

And your painting have all been hung

Just remember what was your

Is everyone's from now on

And that's not wrong or right

But you can struggle with it all you like

You don't have to get uptight

When there's a light

What light?

There's a light

What light?

There's a light

White light

There's a light

White light

There's a light

One light

There's a light

White light

There's a light

One light

There's a light

White light

There's a light

One Light

There's a light

White light

There's a light

One light inside of you

There's a light

White light

There's a light

White light

There's a light

White light

There's a light

One light

I think it is "stone awake". That sounds cooler to me, anyway.

Can anyone confirm for me, in On & On & On, is he saying "we'll stay together YET" or "we'll stay together YEAH". This could impact my whole appreciation for the song. Up until the album version of the song, I always heard it as "yeah" on the live recordings and I always thought that was absolutely horrible. You should never end a line with "yeah" unless you are totally rocking out and need that extra guttural exclamation point at the end to demonstrate how hard you are rocking out. Otherwise it just sounds silly. :monkey

I'm not 100% sure, but on the solo recording I listened to earlier it sounds more like "stung."

I'm pretty certain it's "yet."

Also: you got something against "She Loves You"? :huh

Per bemydemon.com...

"stung"

and

"yeah" (sorry)

I don't think bemydemon is any more official than our own conjecture here...

...and in the case of "On and On and On," I think it's quite wrong.

The lyrics to Sky Blue Sky were provided by the band. But maybe they got their own lyrics wrong. :thumbup

Fair enough.

edit: however, it's not uncommon for lyrics to evolve from one day to the next. It kinda sounds like it could be either one to me, but it also reminds me of the theme music to one of the daytime soaps (Days of Our Lives maybe?) so what do I know?

true. The lyrics for Walken changed a bit from the beginning until the later shows and now the record. However, I guess this would be expected as they played it for over a year before recording.
