Paradiso, Amsterdam

Recommended Posts

We travelled from Sunderland UK to see Wilco in Amsterdam as an anniversary trip, despite all the problems with the airline pulling out of newcastle and having to return via Leeds it was well worth it.

Paradiso is a great venue, small enough to be intimate but big enough to rock and the crowd - a very mixed age range, were brilliant and the band fed off the noise and enthusiasm to play what was in my humble opinion, one of the best gigs ever! Up there with Neil in 76 at Hammersmith Odeon and on this form only NY and Crazy Horse on top form can come close! Wilco were that good.

It was the first time we ahve managed to see them after trying for years and it was great to chat to some of the fans. Hello to the Chigago gang - as well as getting "A sign" from Jeff I also struck lucky with Nel's guitar pick! Enjoy your tour of Europe - Take a look at Picasso's "Guernica" at the Reine Sofia while you are in Madrid - War on War in pictures!

Good Luck.

My wife and I also travelled from Scotland (via Ireland!) to see the three shows at Bataclan Paris, Gent Vooruit and Paradiso and were not disappointed. Each show was just something very special (from someone who actually runs a concert hall this is praise indeed!) and felt very different. It's amazing to see how a band like this works, the energy it creates and the sheer beauty of it's music. Nels cline is truly one of the best guitar players around now, Glenn Kotche must be so incredibly fit to deliver a performance like that night after night. A great way to spend a week on the road. Will defintely go to see them in Glasgow in July and at any other opportunity. Just one of THE great bands of our times...

I'm looking forward to the show at the Paradiso in Amsterdam next week (11/16/09), but am anxious about not being able to see anything. At 5'2", I am six inches below the average height for women in Holland, and a full foot shorter than the average Dutchman. (New Yorker article: http://www.newyorker.com/archive/2004/04/05/040405fa_fact )

I've been to Gen. Adm. concerts where I was crowded in by people way taller than me; felt like I was at the bottom of a well. I was going to try and get there early, to get a spot close to the front, but have heard that the stage was also quite high up.

Anyone with good tips on where to stand at the Paradiso to get a good view of the stage?

Just back home from Amsterdam. Wow. That was a great show. Started with: Ashes Of American Flags, Remember The Mountain Bed and Company In My Bed. The exact three songs I was hoping to hear tonight.. NICE.

Took plenty of nice pictures, will share later!
