borracho
i mean, c'mon... BBQ and George Thorogood this weekend? sounds good to me! anybody been to one of these things? what's it like? i'll be up in Downers Grove visiting this week and it's either that or the balloon fest in Lisle w/Dennis DeYoung, which might not be that half-bad... borracho
c'mon... who can resist some BBQ and "baaaad to the bone"? yeah, i know... i'm just trying to find things to do with my folks while i'm visiting my brother and this seemed somewhat harmless!
mountain bed
I've been to a few of these in Indy. Always to see Steppenwolf. The shows (being free) attract a really raucous crowd of drunks, but if that doesn't bother you go for it! Thorogood is a really fun time if you've never caught him. I used to like that dark side song.

EL the Famous
from the sound of it, you should check out 'To Cool for Ribfest-Fest' instead.
ction
I'm sorry, I'm not going to be able to make it. I've already booked my flight to Slum-BBQ Aught Seven.

I was only being silly - no need to be snarky.

myboyblue
The Ribfest isn't too bad. The parking isn't great though. Fuck George Thorogood though. The Bottle Rockets are there along with Backyard Tire Fire & the Waco Brothers. The food is absolutely great. This may not be as solid as the SlumBBQ IV but it's better than most street festivals. borracho
went to the balloon fest in Lisle instead of Ribfest - Dennis DeYoung was good! nice to re-live your youth sometimes... that was a good festival - good for the folks, good for us... and great weather! much better than the flooding i left in Oklahoma... and saw the best ending to a baseball game i've ever seen at the Cubs/Brewers Friday afternoon! walk-off homerun! got a bleacher seat right at gametime, grabbed some PBR and a dog, and had a blast... the bleachers are kinda crazy though, huh? c53x12
I used to live in Naperville, and I went to Ribfest a couple of times. The food is great, but be prepared to spend like $5 for a 3-rib sampler if you want to try different kinds. It's held out in a big field, and there's not much shade, so it gets pretty hot. The fireworks at night are nice. It's also close by downtown Naperville and the riverwalk, which are both nice attractions. The riverwalk has some shady areas. As mentioned, parking is a hassle, but I think there are shuttle buses that run from North Central college or other spots. edit: ok, I'm a few days late to the thread, so just check back here next July...lol
