  2. i went and here's some thoughts... - the venue was a renovated highschool auditorium that held 700 or so? - buck meek played about a half-hour. - tweedy played 1.5 hours - started 8:30, over at 10. - the sold-out crowd was very quiet and respectful. i mean, people waited until between songs to get up and go out / come back to their seats. did get a little loud when he took questions from the audience while he was tuning, but got quiet again when he started playing. - during that q&a part, wayne coyne asked a question about if he could make up a song on the spot like elton john, and tweed

    saw them last may and thought they sounded the best i've heard them in years. they threw in some songs they hadn't played in many years (precious, nasty dogs, certified blues) and some off the newest album...   5. tornado benefit show in okc - ben kweller, built to spill, grace potter, jackson browne, flaming lips, kings of leon...
  6. it was a few nights ago, but zz top! went in expecting the same standard setlist from them, but instead got 4 new songs, plus precious & grace, funky dogs/nasty kings, certified blues, and fool for your stockings. nice mix of old and new.
  7. make sure you get there early for eagle claw. not sure what the order is between them and gypsyhawk - they've been changing it up on this tour - but don't miss them! great instrumental hard rock from austin.

  9. majors: safeco field coors field ballpark in arlington arlington stadium kaufmann stadium busch stadium (old) wrigley field comiskey (new) miller park camden yards minors: tacoma colorado springs albuquerque oklahoma city frisco tulsa memphis buffalo one of my favorite baseball memories was a day in chicago - afternoon at wrigley, then night at comiskey. another favorite was sitting in the bleachers at wrigley for a day game and aramis ramirez hit a walk-off homer to beat the brewers. such a great atmosphere!

  12. news not so good for baroness: The band members of Baroness and their crew are recovering from injuries sustained after their tour bus crashed outside of Bath, England early on Wednesday morning. John Baizley has broken his left arm and left leg. Allen Blickle and Matt Maggioni each suffered fractured vertebrae. All three remain in the hospital as of this writing. Pete Adams has been treated and released from the hospital. Three of the five crew members who were on the bus have also been treated and released. One member is still undergoing testing.   13. i saw the beastie boys at the bottom of a bill in 1986 that was them, ll cool j, whodini, and run dmc. it was before licensed to ill came out and we hadn't heard of them. 3 guys came out on skateboards and rapped for 3 songs, and when they left the stage, we kinda laughed at them, thinking they wouldn't amount to much. oops. saw them later in 1994 and 2004 - they grew up nicely.
