  1. i don't think he did? if so, it probably would've gone differently! but it was sort of dark, so he probably didn't know.
  2. i went and here's some thoughts... - the venue was a renovated highschool auditorium that held 700 or so? - buck meek played about a half-hour. - tweedy played 1.5 hours - started 8:30, over at 10. - the sold-out crowd was very quiet and respectful. i mean, people waited until between songs to get up and go out / come back to their seats. did get a little loud when he took questions from the audience while he was tuning, but got quiet again when he started playing. - during that q&a part, wayne coyne asked a question about if he could make up a song on the spot like elton john, and tweed
  3. thinking of going to their show next week - it's "an evening with" set. never seen them before... good live band?

  12. news not so good for baroness: The band members of Baroness and their crew are recovering from injuries sustained after their tour bus crashed outside of Bath, England early on Wednesday morning. John Baizley has broken his left arm and left leg. Allen Blickle and Matt Maggioni each suffered fractured vertebrae. All three remain in the hospital as of this writing. Pete Adams has been treated and released from the hospital. Three of the five crew members who were on the bus have also been treated and released. One member is still undergoing testing. The driver of the bus remains in critical
  13. i saw the beastie boys at the bottom of a bill in 1986 that was them, ll cool j, whodini, and run dmc. it was before licensed to ill came out and we hadn't heard of them. 3 guys came out on skateboards and rapped for 3 songs, and when they left the stage, we kinda laughed at them, thinking they wouldn't amount to much. oops. saw them later in 1994 and 2004 - they grew up nicely.

  15. totally worth it. last time i saw them was in 2009 and his band was great. and i can point to a son volt 2006 show at austin city limits festival where the hearing in my right ear got a little more damaged... standing in front of a speaker when jay started ripping on a solo and it felt like my ear exploded. got a little too close without having earplugs. ouch... lesson learned.
  16. bob seger and the silver bullet band!
  17. saw my morning jacket and delta spirit last night... reaffirmed my faith and love of live music!
  18. bruce duets with bob seger last night in nyc: http://www.rollingst...in-nyc-20111202
  19. met him last year and was one of my favorite athlete autographs i've ever gotten. he greeted me with a "hey blood!" and when i asked to shake his hand he gave me a strong soul brother handshake. i think without frazier in his life, ali wouldn't have been who he was.
  20. boris and joe lally (of fugazi) tonight!
  21. glad i missed seeing them in concert during that time...
  22. opposite of me. i took it really hard last night and could hardly sleep, but am getting more optimistic by the hour. i just can't go back and dissect the game over and over like i was last night... 7:05 can't get here quick enough!
  23. i don't like the idea of west virginia coming to the big 12, but i think that's mainly the old traditionalist in me who's been an oklahoma state fan since the mid-70s when it was the big 8. i like the idea of regional conferences where it makes geographic sense to be grouped up with other similar schools. that said, i realize this is where the conferences seem to be going - no geographic or historic affiliation, but super conferences where it's all about the dollar.
  24. soundgarden & mastodon tonight! \m/\m/
