david
I like the record ok but there are some songs on it that make me cringe. There is nothing as lyrically brilliant as many past songs that Jeff has written on this record. I hope I'm wrong, but I think Jeff (like just about everybody else in rock and roll) is past his prime. Theres nothing wrong with this and I really hope I'm wrong but this happens to everyone. I do not think for one minute that the next Wilco album, will not be a return to form. Tweedy and company are just to talented, almost every band has one stinker and this was theirs. stooka
This one goes out to all the nay-sayers. "What Light" If you feel like singing a songAnd you want other people to sing alongJust sing what you feel Don't let anyone say it's wrong And if you're trying to paint a pictureBut you're not sure which colors belongJust paint what you see Don't let anyone say it's wrong And if you're strung out like a kiteOr stung awake in the nightIt's alright to be frightened When there's a light (what light)There's a light (one light)There's a light (white light)Inside of you If you think you might need somebodyTo pick you up when you dragDon't loose sight of yourselfDon't let anyone change your bag And if the whole world's singing your songsAnd all of your paintings have been hungJust remember what was yours is everyone's from now on And that's not wrong or rightBut you can struggle with it all you likeYou'll only get uptight Because there's a light (what light) There's a light (one light)There's a light (white light)There's a light (what light)There's a light (one light)There's a light (white light) There's a light (what light)There's a light (one light)There's a light (white light)There's a light (what light)There's a light (one light)There's a light (white light)Inside of you

W(TF)
I'm kinda split down the middle on this one. I love SBS, it's the best album I've heard in a long time. I also respect anyone's right to not like it, for whatever reason. It's their right, and personally I'd rather not hear a big critique justifying that position. I have read some reviews of SBS, good and bad. Some made sense and some didn't. Music critics in general just bug the shit out of me. I try not to be one. We all should aspire to not be music critics. lol

entropy
Everytime someone writes "JT" I think Justin Timberlake. I don't think that makes me a bad person.

drag ass snag
I can appreciate that, but don't forget to play your Hotel California and Rumours albums every now and then. ? rumours is ace! the eagles suck, and sbs sounds nothing like them, but likening a band to fleetwood mac is no insult. impossible germany does sometimes bring them to mind actually. next you'll be telling me you don't like tusk... lovenmercy
I love Sky Blue Sky with all my heart too! They rock as hard as ever, but Wilco has grown up, and this album appeals to a more mature audience. I think what Tweedy/Wilco have discovered is that good song writing does not have to be full of angst and suffering to be strong or genuine. (It takes a true and strong soul to strive for hope and positivity.) Maybe those who look down on this album's lyrics will appreciate them more once they have had a little more life experience.
