  1. I still don't understand. Does this actually show more of what's going on? Forgive my ignorance, but I still don't get it.
  2. I just remembered sitting by my computer, alone with a glass of scotch, and clicking on the feed as soon as the site went live, having warned all of my housemates that disturbing me would result in a grievous injury... it stands as one of the best first listening experiences I've ever had, and I'm eager to repeat it.
  3. I'll be listening to the stream if it happens, but I won't be downloading it. I don't know about you guys, but since technology has come around and ruined things for everyone, it's almost as exciting for me to hear a record I love in high fidelity than it is to just crack it open and listen for the first time. I know that seems lame, but it's true. The only thing I'm concerned with is the band's feelings on the subject. If they want us to hear it, I'm more than willing to do so. If they don't, well, then I'll chill out for a couple weeks. I've learned to be patient. Try yoga, it's great for
  4. I hear you. Whenever I get advances I don't even load them on my computer for easy listening--if it's gonna leak, it's not gonna be my fault. I have no way to prove this, but I'm almost certain I've ruined relationships over my unwillingness to share press copies of records. Whatever, I can sleep just fine at night. Well, that's a total lie. But it has nothing to do with that. In other words, I am super excited for this record.
  5. I don't know anything about Phil, but his friend Nico Muhly is a veritable genius. Please, please, check out 'Speaks Volumes' and 'Mothertongue,' as well as his inspiring work on Samamidon's 'All Is Well.'
  6. Listen to it as loud as possible, depressed, with three or four beers in you. You'll never look back.
  7. I agree with you completely. Panthers and High Heat make it on to every single mix I create.
  8. This came on in the bar I was drinking in last night and I became so pissed off I ended up accidentally knocking over a pitcher and several glasses. Most of my picks are entirely personal, like "Mr. Brightside," but I don't think it's fair to put in stuff that's entirely personally subjective. Jeeze. This is so hard. There are so many terrible, terrible, terrible mistakes made by people in positions of power. Hrm.
  9. I love you guys, thanks so much for all the suggestions, it's gonna take me a bit of time to work through all of these-- the ones I'm familiar with, like all the Dylan and Frightened Rabbits and such were fantastic suggestions, and anything else I've been checking sporadically are totally badass; completely appropriate, and for the most part, great songs too. Thanks again, I really appreciate it.
  10. Hey everyone, Needless to say, I'm at the point in my life where I need some good old fashioned, eff you, whatever, I'm better off without you biatch tunes to play on the way to work every morning. I'm sick of the same old go-to's, and I don't like wallowing in stuff, so none of that "oh please come back stuff." I need awesome, stray-dog freedom style, releasing a young man back into the wild tunes. Think "Glad It's Over," but without that second sweet part. I know this seems a bit self centered, but out of all the communities on this big stupid internet, this one clearly has the best
  11. I like to listen to "Glad It's Over" but I turn it off before the 'sweet' part about getting back together. Can I threadjack this into good "Yeah, screw you," breakup songs? It'll probably get moved. I'm off to a different forum.
  12. Jerks, it's AM BT ST YHF AGIB SBS and then THE NEW ONE Christ, you people.
  13. Jeff has been replaced by the sound of the Owl brushing up against the microphone. No one but Jim O'Rourke is pleased.
  14. Holy shit, did you guys hear the election's taking place tonight?
