delmarkurt
thanks but no thanks $39 for bad sounding ballroom.....im cheap but i like quality shows I know.....I can't believe that I'm saying this, but I don't think I'm going to get tix to that show. I really can't stand that venue....I'm not sure why Wilco keeps playing there. Guess I'm just going to see Wilco in Madison this fall.
Colb Masta M
I saw the Stripes there, and I thought it was great. I feel like it is the smallest venue I'm going to be able to see Wilco, I can't wait to dance with all the people on the floor, if it doesn't sound perfect I will forfeit that right so that I don't have to sit and be courteous to other people around me when 'Jesus, etc.' gets played. OOO
smallest? sure you're not talking about one of the smaller venues inside the Eagles Club? there's like 5 Wilco play venues smaller than the Eagles Ballroom just about everywhere... it holds a lot but its all GA so if you get there early, its easy to get close standing room. Last time, (in the days of Thax Douglas opening), i was about 3 people away from the front of the stage. I had fun.
Smokestack Joe
i have found the best area for sound is straight off the stage in the back by the soundboard. thats where i was when wilco was there last.
Colb Masta M
I mainly see them when they come through Chicago, where they play bigger venues than Eagles Ballroom, which is why I said that it is probably the smallest place I will get to see them at [unless I want to take a longer road trip]
squarewave
I have seen many shows there... Hopefully they hang some drapes or something, all those hard surfaces makes for a LOUD room. I saw Bob Mould there on the Last Dog & Pony tour. Awesome.
OOO
Not that anyone cares, but theres a radio spot for this show
H.Stone
My virgin post here.... I'm not a huge fan of the ballroom either, but I've got tix for the overture center in Madison which should have much better acoustics. Then about a month later I can enjoy GA at the ballroom (albeit crappy sound) and try to get/stay up close and personal to the stage. I wish they'd do the Pabst in Milwaukee--that's where Jeff did Sunken Treasure last fall.
