M. (hristine
I can't wait to read this entire article, but this is the most apropos sentence I have read in a long time: "Operation Iraqi Freedom, it turns out, was never a war against Saddam Hussein's Iraq. It was an invasion of the federal budget, and no occupying force in history has ever been this efficient." Two years ago I dated a guy who was an private trader/investor. He paid attention to the places where gluts of money could be found. He told me that well connected private contractors would be the next war profiteers of our tax monies. (Duh, right? But who knew they could be so incompetent?)

viatroy
Not only connected and imcompetent, but shielded from prosecution against the cost-plus/subcontracting/payment-for-work-not-done fraud by Bush et al.
mountain bed
Not surprisingly, I'm a big fan of Matt Taibbi. His undercover 'expose'' of the Santorum campaign was priceless.
