Twisted Acres
wow oh wow... to see Stevie in his hometown! So glad he gave as much extra as he did. And so cool that his daughter was part of the band. Did he dedicate "Isn't She Lovely" to Aisha... after all, the song is about her. I still consider his 1996 show at Radio City Music Hall the best concert I've ever been to. So glad you had such a great time!!!
Wendy
Yes ... I screwed up. That's the song she was playing around with him on. Not Sunshine. Duh. My bad. I'll fix it.
Twisted Acres
That must've been so much fun to see, Wendy. Stevie is just so amazing.
jff
That's an amazing setlist. I wish I was going to see him in Atlanta this week. I had previously mentioned that he had already played here, but that is wrong. The photos I saw that I thought were from his Atlanta show must've been from an old tour, or some other cirty on this tour. I see that there's an electronic drumset on Steve's right. I'm assuming he stepped over and played some drums? I'd love to see that.
LouieB
This must have been alot of fun. He apparently was good in Chicago as well. Despite a late career slump by Stevie, what he did in his earlier to mid-career was enough to make him one of the greats. (which is why so many American Idol constestants sing his songs I guess.) I'd love to see that. Oh, good point. I never saw anyone use that drumset. When we arrived at our seat late because of the parking lot fiasco, he was already on stage talking to the crowd. But all the way into the venue, we heard no music. And the first song on the setlist we did hear. So it is possible they changed the planned setlist slightly due to the show's delay. That must've been so much fun to see, Wendy. Stevie is just so amazing. I'm still grinning from it! Definitely a hightlight of 2007 for me.
boywiththorninside
This is interesting as a historical document, but the music itself leaves something to be desired. John, Paul and Stevie all in one studio and recording together. Unfortunately, the most entertaining part is when Lennon asks Stevie if he wants to do a line.

What did she do, cry and say "Feed me"? Sounds like a great show, thanks for the review.

That's what I'd do if I were him. Stevie's a really fantastic drummer. Did Stevie play much harmonica during the show?
Wendy
Yes, a couple of times he broke out the harmonica. Once he even climbed up and stood on the piano bench (I was so worried he would fall, not because he's blind necessarily, but because he's not so young anymore! ) Oh - I forgot about this: (from Detroit News) ... Wonder's male backup singer Keith John is a ball of fire, much like his father, late Detroit R&B legend Little Willie John. Wonder and John performed "Fever," to the crowd's delight. "I liked his music," Wonder said backstage, of Little Willie John. "I told my mother (he assumes a high, squeaky little-boy voice): "I want to be like him ...!" Keith John's father wrote "Fever." Twisted Acres
holy fuck, Keith John!!! Little Willie John (check out "Fever", "Grits Ain't Groceries", and his ballad "Talk to Me" which makes me MELT) is one of my all-time favorite singers... his sister, Mable was amazing too (check out her version of "Your Good Thing is About to End" on Stax). Keith can rip it up!! Royalty singing with royalty... wonderful!
