Bear with me, I'm not an expert. give that crowd a break. that was the first time most of them had been able to get out of their houses in a week due to a huge snow storm. and, for the record, the 4/21 starland ballroom new jersey crowd (or at least one guy in particular) was worse. Analogman
I didn't mean to reopen old arguments. But I paid to hear Tweedy, not frat boys. But then again I had been in Vegas all week so I was much calmer. In any case, here's the show. http://www.sendspace.com/file/pvffj7 Enjoy. It's really bad form to post whole shows in Mp3. Why not just copy your disc and send them to him in the mail.

Well as I said above I'm not an expert on these things so I'm not surprised I have the board police on my case. It's all I had so I figured he could take it or leave it. But then again I had been in Vegas all week so I was much calmer. In any case, here's the show. http://www.sendspace.com/file/pvffj7 Enjoy. I had a good time, but I was second row center (across the aisle from the guy recording this). And yeah, cabin fever was driving us all a little crazy. So I'm probably the "Frat Boy" you heard yelling incessantly on the recording. I'm not the one he challenged to a fight, though. Anyway the banter makes the live show and I almost think he's not at his best banter-wise if he's not a little pissed off. Thanks for the expeditious download. I apologize for the violation of bootleg etiquette, etc., but I'd had the stupid Torrent sitting in my download list for something like 4 months.

It's all good. I just wonder what's worse for etiquette: Yelling and talking throughout an acoustic set or posting an entire show in mp3? I can tell you which one bugs me more. BTW, I was second row, a little to the right. So we were close.

Look it up. Well, both me and my sister (who was there with me) have downloaded it now, so Chad can kill the download in good conscience if he so desires. I personally really appreciate the effort. I've been trying to pull the tracks off BitTorrent since I finally found it in May. Like I said we were standing next to the guy making the recording and simply missed it when it first came up. I'll have some pictures from the ACL show up on my flickr site soon... mpolak21
While there's nothing inherently wrong about converting to MP3 for your own purposes, as A-Man as pointed out tapers usually don't like the distribution of their work as MP3, because it cuts the quality of the recording that they often work very hard to get. My recommendation if you don't want to torrent (I actually can't use any P2P because of my campus firewall), is to keep the FLAC files, zip them and send them through Mega Upload, Yousendit, rapidshare, or whatever you prefer. It's going to take a bit longer to upload, but you still get to download the files in a slightly more convenient way, you get the files in better quality and most importantly the tapers don't get pissed off. The truth of the matter is converting a few shows to MP3's here and there and sharing them isn't going to end the taping of all Wilco live shows. However, it could upset one of the better tapers and start to affect the overall quality of the shows (which have been consistently great this year). --Mike

lulu
Yeah, please do not distribute mp3's. That's a major slap in the face to the trading community who thrive on keeping music in lossless formats. Instead of putting up crap like that, create freebies or do B&P's for people.
