yeah, it's not too bad. only listened through once though.

It didn't impress me much on first listen....kind of like Sky Blue Sky. Seems to takes a few repeats to sink in. Doesn't have any "grab you" tracks, but they're all pretty good. VERY mellow..

Knopfler is kind of a rarity in the rock world. He's actually aged gracefully & continues to put out good stuff. I'd like to hear this new one soon. I hold him in very high regard.

I couldn't agree more. He seems pretty humble too - not just from verbal evidence, but in the restrained way he plays. There aren't many guitarists around with his skills, but you rarely hear him showing off. A case of a hotshot guitarist evolving into a great songwriter, I think that must be pretty rare.

 

And all that wouldn't mean much if his songs didn't stand the test of time, but I think they do.

i'm honestly surprised all this love for mark. i've loved him since i was like 7 when i first heard dire straits.
