ZenLunatic
I have alot of salmon that I caught awhile back that I wanna use up. Having some people over during Christmas and thinking about making Salmon Cakes. Does anyone have any good recipies for that. I've used Zataran's mix before, but it was only ok. Just wondering if anyone had any good sugguestions.
Tweedling
WOW! I was raised on this. My grandmother made these all the time. Out of a can and we called them "salmon patties". With that being said I have no idea what the recipe was and it's not something I would recommend serving to my guests. I think she did it because it was all we could afford. Mr. Kinsley
Just seeing the title I had a mental image of a three-layer cake like a birthday cake, except made of fish. Salmon patties sound waaaaay better.
Dreamin'
I don't have a salmon cake recipe (maybe you could adapt a recipe for crab cakes?), but there are some great salmon recipes here. I use maple syrup and soy sauce (2:1) as a marinade for BBQ salmon. If you want to make it a bit fancy, coat the salmon in crushed peppercorns and black sesame seeds. Salmon patties sound waaaaay better. That sounds sick. I am talking about salmon cakes like crab cakes. They are very delicious. I assume salmon patties are the same thing except in patty form. I would love the grandma's recipe. I think the important part is using alot of oil. I heard Old Bay spice is good.
