marino13
Staying at the Wilshire Grand in Downtown L.A. on New Years Eve. Does anyone know of a good bar we could hit nearby that has a tasteful jukebox or good live music? Thanks!
ms. yvon
not off the top of my head...will give it some thought, tho!
OOO
I am not a downtown LA fan, but I do like that hotel.
El Picador
Broadway Bar is kinda fun. No live music but the vibe is surprisingly hipster and they play cool new wave music. http://www.thebroadwaybar.net/main.html
the_ashtray_says
there's also 7grand, a relatively new whiskey bar. it's a couple blocks from the broadway bar. unfortunately i was only able to get one quick drink there before a show at the orpheum. it had a nice vibe, but i didn't really get a chance to soak it in. hear good things about it though. Not really a music bar, but around the corner from the Wilshire Grand is a bar called 'The Library' that I really enjoyed. http://librarybarla.com/index_main.html
marino13
Those are some great leads for me to call, thank you very much!!! It will probably depend on what type of New Year's Activities they have (I don't want to pay a huge cover, as it will probably be a short visit - we're going to the Rose Parade the next morning). Also, we are renting a car and leaving at about 8:00 A.M on the 2nd from the Wilshire to drive down to San Diego. Will traffic be a bitch heading out of the city? Any recommended routes to avoid the worst traffic? Thanks again
marino13
Never mind on the traffic question. I decided to take the Amtrak from LA to San Diego to avoid the traffic and rent a car when I get down there.
