Charleston-2/29- first Wilco show on 2/29?

Recommended Posts

I am in 3rd row and see there is a pit. is that seats or standing and did anyone score pit ticktets.

I scored pit row AA, middle left.. I hope the sound is good from the front row, but I know I'll atleast be head level with Nels's amp and I'll be able to hear him very well.. Very happy about that :)

That sucks about camera's, because I was planning to bring my 35m.. It's a little too big to sneak, so I may have to settle with my small digital that takes crappy pictures.. :(

all seated up front. i think they're labelled with double or triple letters like AA, BB, etc.

the camera thing is a no go unless you can sneak one in. the promoter usually has a professional photographer or two there.

and yes, magnolia's is Good Eats but on the pricey side, comparatively.

I thought wilco allowed cameras?

well don't blame me if they don't let ya in. i've never seen a venue allow full slr rigs in, they consider it professional photography. if it fits in your pocket you'll probably not get stopped unless you start using a flash during the show.

Yeah, I wouldnt bring the zoom lense or anything like that.. Just the smaller part that can fit in my wife's purse.. Defintely not bringing the full rig and no flash.

So did anyone get pit tickets in presale>? I am 3-4 rows behind pit but I think dead center....

I got them during the ticketmaster presale.. Front row (PIT row AA), between Jeff and Nels.. I'm excited to be that close, but my wife is a little nervous to be that close to Jeff.. :barf

I'm definitely stoked.. It's going to be a loooooong four weeks.

How did you people get such good seats? I usually do pretty well regarding seating, but was only able to get Row M this time. Think we were on Row B last Charleston show.

Well for me, when the ticketmaster pre-sale tickets went on sale, I didn't have much luck the first day. I was getting balcony, row v, etc.. So I decided to wait until the next day to see if my luck would change. The next day, I had the same luck.. So just when I was about to give up and wait for the public sale, I refreshed the site one more time before I left work and the PIT row AA tickets popped up... I guess it was just a matter of patience and luck.. But I took a similar approach for the Charlotte show in June, and scored 2nd row seats, but they were far to the right of the stage. Still great seats.. I guess I'm just lucky when it comes to ticketmaster. :thumbup

Guess you're just lucky! I'm kinda picky about where I sit. I have to be as close to in front of Jeff as possible. I was on John's side of the stage for the Asheville show and I hated it.

There really are no bad seats in the PAC, though, even in the balcony. I kinda wish it was in a different location, though, like downtown Charleston!

Exactly! It's in a pretty bad part of town.. Not much around it as far as bars/restaurants.. It sucks for the people that are traveling here from out of town because it's definitely not a good representation of Charleston. There is so much more downtown.

I haven't quite decided where I'm gonna go for food and :beer before the show.. I'm leaning toward the Sportz Cafe since it's just right down the street and it's really the only choice within walking distance.

Last show, my friend and I just ate at North Towne beforehand. We really weren't interested in drinking or hanging out since we had to drive back to Columbia for work the next day.

What's the Sportz Cafe? Where is it exactly? And the more important question is do they have good beer (meaning, something other than Bud Light)?

It's around the corner from the PAC on West Montague. Google maps link

I went there for the super bowl one year and just drank cheap pitcher beer, so I really couldn't tell you what they have as far as good beer. :ohwell

I would bet they atleast have killians and maybe guiness, but that's just a guess.. It's just your average sports bar.. Nothing fancy, but they do have a giant movie theatre size TV screen. The only reason I'm considering going there because it's close to the PAC.

Thanks for the info, guys. I think I'll be skipping the Sportz cafe this go round.

Your very welcome. And BTW - Best of luck to your Gamecocks for the 08 season.. They will need all the luck they can get... ;)

haha just messin with you.. go tigers...

I went to that sportz bar before pearl jam in 96. Last show I saw in Charleston. Never been to PAC>

So i guess they possibly make the pit tickets not come up at first. But I was satisfied with 4-5 rows back dead center. I like dead center for the sound. Be careful that your lady doesnt fall asleep or piss Jeff off. He let one couple have it in Chapel Hill a few years back....

Looking forward to a fun night of music and hopefully a surprise or two. Anyone know of the opening band?

REM is having a webcast concert that night as well.....

I seriously doubt my wife would do anything to piss Jeff off. Even though she has been known to tip a few at concerts, she usually keeps her cool and certainly won't be passing out..

I've listened to some of John Doe's solo stuff, and it's pretty good.. Alt Country.. I think he'll be a good warm up act. I'm really looking forward to Blue Mountain at the Pourhouse the night before the show.. I heard they put on a killer show.

i think the couple in question was making out for a few songs and he told them to get a room. jeff went off on a minor rant but from the recording i thought he was joking about it. (i think this what the original poster was referring to but maybe i'm wrong.)

That sounds very familiar to what happen at the Charlotte show back in June. Jeff was saying "You two need to get a room.. It's bordering on indecent.. And I'm wearing thin pants!" That was funny stuff... He was like "Do you want us to play more slow jams?".. Jeff is quite the comedian. :rotfl

Guess the wife and I will hit the Spotz Cafe before the show since it sounds like the only option within walking distance. We are more or less just looking for a place to kill time and have some drinks before the show, so this sounds like the best option that doesn't involve going downtown and then having to worry about getting back out for the show. Looking forward to a good night...

Yeah, I'm leaning toward that option as well.. It's not exactly the hippest joint in town, but it has beer and descent food, and that's all I care about.. Looking forward to a good night as well. Counting down the days.. :thumbup

So does anyone need an extra ticket? Due to unforseen circumstances, the person who was originally going with me is no longer, well, going with me. I have a couple of other people to ask but then I'm out of options after that. Thought I'd post here first and then if no takers, I'll post in the ticket forum.
