Beltmann
I had a blast unpacking this movie. I think it explores individual identity in terms of facades, choices, and contradictions. The movie is populated by characters who envision themselves one way but end up as something else entirely, or appear one way but end up containing multitudes. I also liked the motif of regarding our bodies as evidence of who we are--or at least who other people think we are. (Besides the tattoos and the DNA test, consider the scenes where Kirill demands Nikolai prove his sexuality and where Kirill sizes up Anna, among others.) There are many more things to say about Eastern Promises, but I guess I
TheMaker
I'll leave the nervous tittering to posters who are even more immature than I am, but I will say that the sauna fight scene was unbelievably well choreographed. It was just brutal as hell and frighteningly convincing, I thought.
blindgonzo
I really enjoyed this movie. I never thought I could shake the "Aragorn" from Viggo, but his performance in this was wicked.
Hodie
I've seen it a couple of times, and I love it. Until the Atonement/No Country one-two punch, it was the only movie that came to mind when people asked what I've liked recently.

willywoody
i've called it cronenberg's masterpiece elsewhere. i'll stick with that. one of the best movies i've seen. the cinematography is stunning with the facial details really popping out on screen.
