Roll Call: 2/22 Lakewood, OH

Recommended Posts

My wife and I will be there in the front row. It is my first time that close for any show and I'm extremely geeked. We've got our fingers crossed for lots of setlist craziness. As if front row tickets for my fave band weren't enough the venue is 10 min. from my fave brewery - Great Lakes Brewing Co.

Great Lakes Brewery or Johnny Mango are our choices right now for pre show cheer. GLB - I love their stilton soup, yum! Just thinking about it is making me hungry!

Have fun up front!!! We'll be behind you by only a couple rows on Nel's side!

Have fun! One of my dearest pals will be in the fourth row. I had to choose between Cleveland and Nashville, and opted for seeing Wilco at the Ryman. I'll be there next time!

My wife and I will be there, driving from Rochester, NY via Pittsburgh. Actually, already drove to Pittsburgh, just have to finish the drive.

Bringing myself out of concert retirement for this one. Haven't been to any sort of live show in about a decade (hate crowds). Biting the bullet to see Wilco, though.

Does anyone know if the band is doing Simple Twist of Fate on this tour?

What is this Johnny Mango you speak of Wilcogirl?

Hey dazzler, here's the link. http://www.jmango.com/ They make a mean sangria there! And their burritos are pretty darn good. We've actually opted for a place called Melt in Lakewood, not far from the venue http://www.meltbarandgrilled.com/

I've not been there before, but one of our bunch has, and she loves it. Looks like they have a pretty decent bar, too.

The weather is already monkeying with our plans, I am/was supposed to pick my sister up in Pittsburgh this morning for the show, but she's flying in from Philly and her flight was cancelled!!! We're waiting to see if she can catch another early flight to get here in time, but I'm facing a 4 hour round trip drive to get her (why she's not flying to Cleveland . . . a difference in $250 in airfare . . .what lengths we all go to to see Wilco!) Hope she can make it :ohwell

Poppydawn, we'll be 4th row on Nel's side, where are your friends sitting?

We definitely are having some "winter weather" today, so please drive safely and give yourself plenty of extra time!

My seats are on the right side, right next to the handicap area, back row of the main floor. I'll probably be taping from the soundboard area, as there is usually some space for a stand and gear there. Hopefully a nice sounding torrent will be available tomorrow :devil

She's in the lower middle section, row E. Really great seats. So if you see a tall, beautiful olive-skinned brunette with curly hair, hanging out with two tall guys - one bald and one with wicked sideburns, tell her Robin said hi. :dancing

Just out of curiosity, how many of you were at the Latrobe, PA, show in October, 2006?

i'm a sucker for melted cheese. thanks for the heads up on melt, i'll hit GLB next time.

i was also at latrobe and pittsburgh last year. both pretty lame venues in my opinion but better seeing them in gymnasiums rather than not at all.

Thanks, J. Its looking like she's not going to make tonight's show, they put her on a second plane and that was cancelled, too so she's getting a refund. Not wanting to give it all up, she's attempting to book a later flight, but its starting to push it too close to show time at this point. We may have to admit defeat. I'll still be going tonight, but its not the same without her, she's my Wilco traveling companion. :ohwell

Alright!

Poppydawn, I didn't make the Latrobe show, but I was at the Pittsburgh show last Oct. I agree the venue was really lame, but I still had a great time.

You're the first person I've encountered who was also at that show. I went because it was an excuse to see my friend in Cleveland, catch a Wilco show the weekend of my birthday, and be in the area for opening weekend of The Clash exhibit at the Rock Hall.

That was the weirdest venue I've ever been to. Wilco plays your prom! The show was still great, even though the venue and crowd sucked, and the band was obviously ready to be over with that leg of the tour.

I escaped the floor and took to a deserted section in th bleachers just in time to hear "Sunken Treasure". That part was awesome.

Oh, that sucks! I'm sorry. :(

(This is the main reason why I opted to go to the Nashville show instead of Cleveland this time around. I was paranoid about weather issues.)

Aw, thanks Rob! Yes, the tall neurotic trio will be us ;) We'll be in 101, 102, and 103 row E. Cannot wait!!!!

I'll be there (not that anyone really knows who I am).

Hi, my name is Chris. I live about 1/4 mile from the venue. I think it's cool as hell that I get to see one of my favorite bands at the local high school.

I skimmed over the responses thusfar and my only suggestion is that the Melt will be a long wait and it takes forever to get your food.

If you want a good beer selection and a decent atmosphere without the wait try the Winking Lizard Tavern. It's right on Detroit Ave straight up Bunts (140th).

I suggest this since it is extremely close to the venue and probably will be where I'm at when I get out of work.

Feel free to ask more Lakewood questions, hopefully my two years here will help. Johnny Mango's is a good choice but it's on the other side of Lakewood.

Aww, thanks. You know, as we were planning, I too was thinking, Cleveland/Philly February . . . and did not have a very optimistic feeling about weather! Next obstacle is getting from Cleveland to Philly tomorrow before the show (via car!0

Nashville sounds great right about now . . . :stunned
