rrgunn
In this day and age, why the hell hasn't Wilco put out a commercially produced concert DVD? Would the Residency shows not present a pretty good opportunity?
LouisvilleGreg
Yes they would make a brilliant DVD, but other than a few handheld recorders down front, I didn't see any filming from the stage. perhaps there was some out of my sight lines or in the balconies, but if they were planning on doing a DVD, there likely would've been multiple cameras every night. lost highway
I think I kind of hyped the DVD at the Riv rumor. Dead wrong. Brendan Canty of the Burn to Shine series said in an interview he was filming Wilco shows in early 08 and not saying what it would be for. The Riv seemed the obvious choice. Maybe it will be an Aussie DVD, or maybe the circumstances have changed since he said that at least six months ago. Sorry, for the let down. I've never been such a gossip..... jmacomber68w
or maybe they are waiting for the upcoming tour of their latest 4 disc studio album due out this march??? wishful thinking indeed, they could very well be waiting for a european run of shows
TomT
Some guys on another board (Westerberg) I'm on got together and one guy taped, while two others shot video. They put it all together on a DVD that was fantastic. I've seen a lot of video up on U-tube of the Saturday show. Is it possible to put together a DVD using all available footage and syncing it with a good recording? I don't know... just a thought.
alison the wilca
wilco doesn't allow video of their shows. its probably better to be nice and not support pirated video, especially when the band is so generous in allowing audio and photos. i guess thats a personal decision, though. ms. yvon
In this day and age, why the hell hasn't Wilco put out a commercially produced concert DVD?they took a crack at it a couple years ago, but it didn't work out. jeff did release the "sunken treasure" dvd last year, so they may still decide to give it another go as a band. and re: taping it yourself: alison is right: wilco doesn't allow video taping of their shows. flat out. j4lackey
I imagine they considered it, then figured it would mess with a pretty special little run of shows. That and the fact they were basically learning some of these songs in soundcheck. Maybe it's scheduled for the upcoming (ongoing) tour. Sure would be nice.

mountain bed
If I had to choose between one or the other I'd rather have a cd box set of the whole run.
Joey Slugs
Yes they would make a brilliant DVD, but other than a few handheld recorders down front, I didn't see any filming from the stage. perhaps there was some out of my sight lines or in the balconies, but if they were planning on doing a DVD, there likely would've been multiple cameras every night. There were hand held cameras (on Tuesday I believe) as well as one or two cameras near the back soundboard on Saturday and Monday.
