anthony
I have been listening alot to the 04-06-2007 solo show, so here is another attempt at one of those tunes (also, inpsired by the recent AGIB thread). I didn't tab out the break. Gotta listen to the song for the descending progrssions and dynamics. Btw, I would love to see a solo guitar version of the piano intro from the LP. Anyone wanna take a stab? This may be beyond my meager abilities. Comments, corrections, feedback (as always) welcome. Enjoy! Wilco - Hell Is Chrome / A Ghost Is Born (JT solo version) Standard Tuning / no capo Dm(v) Am When the devil came, He was not red Bb F Bb He was chrome, and he said F Bb Come with me Dm(v) Am You must go, So I went Bb F Bb Where everything was clean F Bb So precise and towering Dm(v) Am Bb F Bb Dm(v) Am I was welcomed With open arms Bb F Bb I received so much help in every way F Bb I felt no fear F Bb I felt no fear Break: Gm Am(v) A7(v) Bb(vi) Am(v) Gm Am(v) A7(v) Dm(v) C(iii) Bb F Fsus4 F Dm(v) Am The air was crisp Like sunny late winter days Bb F Bb A springtime yawning high in the haze F Bb And I felt like I belonged F Bb Come with me F Bb Come with me Come with me Come with me ... Gobias Industries
I always thought he capo-ed 4/5 and played it with similar chord positions to Jesus, etc. I could be wrong.

tft3323
I think the album version is capo 4, but this transcription certainly works as a solo arrangement. Thanks for posting it. I, too, have never heard the solo version but would love to. Great song.
Gobias Industries
You might be right. Jeff has a fondness for capo 5, no? I guess they are many ways .,... He's especially fond of 2 and 5. I'll see what I can cook up, I know I have the Tweedy solo version of Hell is Chrome at the house, but I get home in two days.
anthony
Btw, I would love to see a solo guitar version of the piano intro from the LP. Anyone wanna take a stab? . I thought I'd re-visit my own question. I think this is pretty close. I made a couple of shortcuts to help keep it at the first position and realatively comfy hand postions (the Eb7 is a bitch, tho). Please take a look and let me know what you think of this arrangement. anthony
This is a nice way of playing it. I'll add one suggestion, though. I would make the break as follows: Em F#m F#7 Gm F#m Em F#m F#7 Bm A G D Dsus4 D
