Hi -

Next month I'm participating in something called The Manuscript Mart.

To the point: by early next week I need to submit 20 pages of the novel I'm working on to the agent I've chosen to speak with me. At the Mart, he/she will have read and pored over my excerpt, and we will spend 20 minutes together wherein he/she will crush my spirit and flagellate my dreams.

As a defense mechanism, I'd like to get the valid opinions and harsh criticisms of as many VCers as possible - by sending my excerpt out via PM.

I've already sought out a couple of folks here, based solely on their post count and their allegiance to the Red Sox. I thought mayhaps I should step outside my safe lil womb.

To be clear - I don't expect much. Even a quick glance and a 'This whole thing sucks except the part where the president gets stoned*' would suffice.

The story is a boy-loses-friend, boy-falls-in-love-with-friend's-sister, boy-loses-said-sister dealie, with some awful workplace events and bouts of depression thrown in.

Yeah, I think that link is more eyeball friendly. I think massive blocks of italicized text makes most people dizzy. It does me, at least.
