caliber66
My dad worked for General Meigs in Germany, and I met him at a cocktail party in 1995. We talked about his boss new titanium eyeglass frames, not about the then-future administration's dealings in southwest Asia.
John Smith
It is really too bad that this is pretty much a non-issue with the public and the majority of the press. But that might just go to show how well the administrations propaganda machine has worked and how we have come to expect this sort of thing out of them. But essentially we as citizens watch the news hoping to be informed. In this case the news providers consult with military people. We the lay people give these guys great credence when they speak and we are relying on them to give their unvarnished opinions. However once again we the people have been duped and the unvarnished opinions were all pretty much scripted talking points used to sell the administrations message. So the public thinks they are getting an independent view, when in fact they are not. This is all the more highlighted by the fact that those retired "independent military experts" we routinely cut off from the information when they strayed from the administrations talking points. Once again the press and thus the public have been duped.
MrRain422
Of course the press isn't going to cover this though, because the culprits here are the MSM themselves. Should be the biggest story everyone's talking about though.
John Smith
Of course the press isn't going to cover this though, because the culprits here are the MSM themselves. Should be the biggest story everyone's talking about though. The MSM would be the culprits if they knew at the time that these "analysts" were simply shills. I fully believe that some knew all the details (Fox comes to mind) and other knew vaugly of what was going on. The press are definately compliccit in the whoel thing, but the culprits are still the guys pulling the strings at the source of the information/propaganda chain. Granted the MSM is not as likely to investigate their own screw ups but it is sad that the general public is effectively uninformed on this matter. Uninformed by both the press and the adminsitration. And of course this issue begs the question...what else has been subjected to this sort of propaganda campaign? And of course Id o find it ironic that the link is to the NY Times former home of Judith Miller one of the more influential cheerleaders for war with deep adminsitration ties.
