LouisvilleGreg
nice work. im headed to springsteen as well. whats the deal with the GA floor??? Not to highjack the thread, but Springsteen Ga's are pretty easy. They give away one wristband per person for several hours ususally 2-5, then they stop giving them out. They pick a random number (say 509) then organize the line with 509, 510 second and so on for about 3-400 people, who go in the pit immediately in front of the stage. After that the list picks back up and goes up to the the highest number wristband they gave out, then goes up to 508, those people go on the floor immediately behind the barricade where the pit is. I've gotten into the pit like 7 out of 10 times the past 6 years. Good luck, Greg

watch me fall
Can any locals shed some light on the amphitheater? What's it like? Is there anywhere to eat/drink nearby? And if not, what areas would you suggest out of towners hit.
bigshoulders
Can any locals shed some light on the amphitheater? What's it like? Is there anywhere to eat/drink nearby? And if not, what areas would you suggest out of towners hit. The venue is a nice little place. It's not like the big amphitheaters in the way of Walnut Creek. It seems rather intimate when compared to Walnut Creek, actually. There will be folding chairs on the lawn for this one. I cringed when I found that out, but the distance from the stage to the back line of concessions / reserved tables is not all that great, hence the "intimate" feel to the place. There are places to eat and drink fairly close by. There is a place called Lucky 32 on Tryon (Never been) but there are several more places up the road around the intersection of Tryon and Kildaire Farm. As for a decent place to grab a brew, I'm still doing some research on that. I have heard there is a new bar in town (not sure if on that side of town or not) but I'll post back here with any new info. I'm getting excited!Kevin

Is the venue about the same size as the amphitheater in Raleigh? I was on the lawn for that show but have reserved seats for this one. So Tryon is one of the more commercial streets in town? I guess I need to do some mapquesting. I'm getting excited, too! I'm bringing one of my sisters in law with me. She just got into Wilco and she's really excited. I'd much rather see them here than at Walnut Creek.Tryon isn't so commercial, actually, but you can find loads of stuff on Kildaire Farm. Most of the places to eat / drink will be going towards downtown Cary on Kildaire. Kevin

The name escapes me at the moment. I'll check out Kildaire. Thanks

Guest Jules
And why is that? You did something similar on a post of mine.It was a light-hearted joke seeing as the majority of the thread had been devoted to discussing the song requests, and then you asked if everyone had requested songs? I found it amusing, hence my (apparently) unfunny post.

bigshoulders
the place looks gorgeous but im not sure about the steps in the front of the stage. i wanna be as close as possible According to the box office personnel, they aren't going to allow folks to rush the stage as in years past. Time was, a lawn pass holder could simply post up near the stage once the show began, thus maddening those people that had purchased reserved seats. This happened at the Bob Dylan show a few years back, and security gave up trying to police the situation and just let it be. It's a great venue, but I find I'm really wishing it were General Admission, despite having a kick ass seat. (Thanks again Tamala!) Kevin
junebug
I like the venue.I saw Alison Krauss there last summer...the sound was great. Sat on the lawn and looked at the stars all night. We sprung for seats to see Wilco though. Oh, and it's only about 10 minutes from my house!
watch me fall
I have reserved seats as well. I had lawn at first but then got reserved through sheer luck and sold the lawn tix. I hate when people rush the stage (unless it's GA), so I guess I'd be one of the mad concert goers if that happened. It was a real problem at the Asheville show a few years ago. Basically no security and I couldn't see anything at all for most of the show. However, at the Charlotte show last year, security was pretty tight. Lots of people tried to just mosey on down to the front or stand in the aisle but security was having none of it.

I'm scarred from the Upper Darby experience, and really don't want to repeat that, ever.

I'm scarred from the Upper Darby experience, and really don't want to repeat that, ever. What happened at Upper Darby? I have the same fear as you regarding the seats. I really hope other people are standing/dancing in my section. Although, it really doesn't bother me if I'm the only one. At the REM show last month I think I was the only person in my area who stood the entire time. Noone complained, though.
